Lends even more credence to the notion that an individual does not exist over time but from instant to instant, like a river flowing by or a candle burning. But, that thought seems to neglect memory of previous instants. Memory/recall might then become a time travel device, e.g., the universe is nothing but a memory of everything that ever happened, as when the light from a bangup beginning is just now reaching us, a reminder of things past. If the universe can remember then memory travel comes into play and you have just maneuvered around the physicist's notion of time. Time travel is now geeky, respectable, and back on the table.

An introduction to my theory that there is an information dimension parallel to and in tandem with any other conceivable dimension. My theory states: information opposes entropy.

Cool theory, HE. But then, time travel goes from present to past to present. Still no future time travel. Of course, whoever's present is the focal point of the time travel could very well be the future of another less recent memory holder ... hmmm.

    great writing software

Try out Whitesmoke writing software. It's got a huge online dictionary and thesaurus that will help you so much with your writing - you know, when you're stuck for words, or need a translation (good for naming things). Lots of other features included, too, so you don't have to switch back and forth from your word processor, since the same software offers it all.

I don't have any good resources today, I have a dumb question.

32 people are trapped in an airtight room with about 4000 cubic meters of air, if each is breathing an average of 10 liters per minute (a normal resting rate), how long would the air last?

I can't remember how to convert, and at the moment, can't remember where to look it up.

    Can anyone help?

Mr. B - I think you're looking at just under 8.7 days, or about 8 days and 16 hours:

    4000 cubic meters x 1000 liters/cubic meter = 4,000,000 liters,
    4,000,000 liters / (320 liters/min) X (1 hour/60 minutes) X (1 day/24 hours)
    = 8.6805 days.

Andy, that question might do better in the "self-promotion" thread.

Mice9, I don't think you're posting your question in quite the right place. While I see that your desire was not to create a new thread, the intent of this tread is for posting links to resources that writers can use to help them in their craft, not for addressing questions from writers about technique. So you're much less likely to get an answer to your question here, since the people stopping by in this thread are looking for links to things.

I think you would be better off starting a new thread to ask your question, so that you can benefit from all the folks in the Writing thread having an opportunity to consider your query.

Thanks for these resources, everyone. This could really help me. I've added nearly ever link to my favorites list. :)

A very interesting article (pdf) on teaching punctuation. A couple of nice ideas that help you look at what other author's do, such as "a hierarchy of punctuation marks" and "raising".

    Finding an agent

Can anyone recommend an agent for a soon-to-be-released YA Fantasy novel?

kalitara, this particular thread is not the right place to ask that question. The intention of this thread is to provide a place to list resources for writers to assist with their craft.

I would suggest you search the Writing forums for agent-related topics. I don't think you're likely to find someone who will just pop up names for you, however. It's a bit harder than that to find an agent willing to represent your work, I'm afraid.

Is there a web site to view or submit to? Or is that a Book title?
