Hello everyone

I just wondered if anyone has read her books.

They seem interesting to me on the cover however I must admit that I do not need anything extra to read lol.

Just finished her book "The Poison Master" a couple of weeks ago. Interesting book. Kind of a far future science fantasy with politics, alchemy, romance etc.

I imagine that if you like the more "baroque" writing style of Tanith Lee, Michael Moorcock, Storm Constantine and others you'll probably like her. Personally I like this mix of science fiction with fantastical/mythological elements but of course this is not to everyone's taste.

So I would say she's an interesting writer. Her ideas are certainly original. But she still has to do a lot of work before she can compare with someone like Tanith Lee.

I like Storm Constantine, Tanith Lee and some Moorcock, but I found Liz Williams a bit more difficult to get into. The Poison Master was just a little dry for me, it perhaps lacks some of the humour used by Constantine and Lee which I think counteracts the heavy effects of the gothic.

Any recommendation that includes the words "alchemy," "baroque writing style," and Tanith Lee is likely to catch my attention.

(Off to Amazon to look up The Poison Master, and hoping it won't be something published in the UK or Australia, since I've already spent a lot of money on overseas shipping this month.)

As luck would have it, I'm currently reading "The Poison Master" and really enjoying it so far. The descriptions are apt but the book "The Poison Master" reminds me most of is Martha Wells' "Death of the Necromancer".

I bought some Martha Wells books by accident getting into a muddle between her and Michelle West (duh!), and I could not get into the books at all, so it looks like there is a certain type of book I dislike...strange!

I just finished reading The Poison Master. It is a bit dry to begin with, but I found the story becoming more and more involving as it went on.

Comparisons to Tanith Lee puzzle me a bit -- the atmosphere is dark, but the style doesn't remind me of Lee at all. Still trying to figure out whether I like the way she combines magic with science, and entirely different kinds of magic with each other -- although in principle I love the idea.

It's an entertaining book, however, and most certainly original. I think it may grow on me.
