What do you people have against my posts??? :(
Anyway, yeah, I agree with you Gemini, Cadvan is great!!! :D :D :D

Now I'm not reading the Riddle, it's as if I can see him clearly for the first time : imperfect, driven, haunted, stern, divided within himself; but also true, honest, generous, strong and gentle. :D

Lol.If you guys don't know what I'm talking about, read the Riddle on page 223. :D

Apologies - I couldn't finish the story. So I thought I'd post the bit I've done. I'll translate the rest some time this week ;)

This extract from Lives of the Bards by Fornarii of Lirigon.

Cadvan lived with his father and four siblings in a small Lirhan village, not far from Lirigon. But he did not go to the Lirigon School until much later than most children with the Gift.
.

beautiful beautiful beautiful
thanxx alison for the wonderful stuff =)
My mind has been on The Naming all day,, I just finished it last night :D
Anyways,
I was just wondering,,,
I wonder if a separate book on Cadvan would be a possibililty?
like, a story of his life, family, adventures, life at school, relationships, etc.
I was kind of thinking of something like the book Polgara the Sorceress by David Eddings =)

Gahh,, I can't believe the riddle isn't coming out in canada for like another year!! :( depressing... I'll just have to make up my own little adventure for maerad and cadvan until the book comes into stores :)

Does anyone know the names of his siblings??
Also, why is he the only one of is family that is a Bard?
He was the only bard in his family that's for sure. All the members in his family have died due to the fact they don't have the bardic lifespan. All I really know about his family is that his dad was a cobbler and there has not been any names so far anyway

Cadvan has to be one of the most interesting characters I've read and most certainliy my favourite.

When I thought he died in the Riddle, I cried. I was in such a state of disbelief I flicked ahead a few chapters hoping to see a bit of dialogue attatched to his name. For a little while the book seemed empty but it picked up. However, I still misssed Cadvan. Then he's brought back in the final chapter! How cheeky . . .

OMG, Worstnightmare, you didn't cry??? Man, you must be well emotionally strong...
I cried for ages when Cadvan 'died', and whenever he was mentioned, e.g. when his name came up in a conversation, or when Maerad thought about him, I cried too...Yes, I was (and still am) vvvvvvvvvvvery emotionally attached to the characters in The Gift and Riddle.
This is what makes the books so wonderful: Alison has managed to grope my heart with her characters, the thing that other books have failed to achieve.
