OMG, Worstnightmare, you didn't cry??? Man, you must be well emotionally strong...
I cried for ages when Cadvan 'died', and whenever he was mentioned, e.g. when his name came up in a conversation, or when Maerad thought about him, I cried too...Yes, I was (and still am) vvvvvvvvvvvery emotionally attached to the characters in The Gift and Riddle.
This is what makes the books so wonderful: Alison has managed to grope my heart with her characters, the thing that other books have failed to achieve.

hahahahahahahah.
I dont know how you guessed that Im very emotionally strong!!!!!!
I havent cried for ages, and I hate it to!!!!!

Okay, lol, amybe I'm a bit naughty...but I didn't read the last page, because I know that would probably ruin the book for me (even though I know nothing will because it's sooooo good). :)

Cadvan is cool

I just started reading this quartet a couple of weeks ago (well, I zipped through the first two books in a total of about 3 days) and am ADDICTED! It's been a while since I've loved characters in books so much - in the Riddle when Cadvan was "dead" I was almost going to stop reading out of protest. Although I think Maerad is a fantastic heroine - very human and insecure despite her being The Chosen One - Cadvan is my fav character. The way Alison writes him is just so wonderful... I just want him and maerad to get together dammit!!!! :D

I've got a cadvan thought =)

what do you think he was thinking of when he said Maerad looked like Queen Ardina. In the Riddle it said that she didn't think that she reminded him of Ardina but of something else. do you think it maybe might have been Ceredin?

I think you guys are most definatley right. Cadvan is a misterious man (no I cant spell) and ofcourse has suffered a lot of hurt through his life as well. and I think maerad reminds him of a time long ago.. a long lost love.
