LOL I know how it sounds, but they are actualyl really cool and they are historically accurate with their music. They just like to well... put things out of perspective.

Okay...maybe they've popularised some songs, but they at least have the right lyrics and instruments :P

There was some talk on the Lyre thread about forming an online band
*anyone know how to do this?????*
But I also thought that, since Andomian has written some music for the lyre she is making, we could discuss the kinds of music that Bards, for example, would play.
Anyone else written any music / can play an instrument???? Anyone who has an instrument and can play it (even if just a few notes) is welcome to join, but I'm not sure how long it will be before we work out how to start the band :p

Good idea :D I don't really have anything to record with though...or any music for that matter...:p
The wonders of technology indeed :D
Could we then mix all of the tunes together??? Or would it need special software???

Hiya all,
Your homemade bardic music mix idea has captured my interest. I record music all the time (i play in a pro big band and also in a few rock/jazz/pop type bands on bass and piano for fun) Also i compose some basic film score music...so if you have specific plans id be happy to help out with technical stuff?

It depends what your planning Loiren - instrumentation? score? synthesised sound? I would start by brainstorming what END PRODUCT you want. Do you want something where everyone here gets to contribute a little bit? If so, perhaps you could assign "production roles"? EG of roles; 'producer' who organises everyone, 'lyrics writer' for someone who likes writing poetry and fancys attempting a bardic style, maybe a 'composer' for writing a draft score, and then a group of 'recording artists' to sort out the technical recording? Just a random idea for getting a group project a bit more 'official'.
If you're seriously interested in doing some music comp for fun I can reccomend a few excellent general purpose softwares.
Sibelius is the complete software for writing, playing, printing and publishing music notation. So for writing out a score its perfect. The later versions have excelent sound sythesising and can output as MIDI and even MP3 or WAV with a plugin. You can access a trial version at http://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/download/get.pl?com=sh&prod=sibdemo
Adobe Audition is an industry standard software for recording, mixing, editing, and mastering sound files. Really awsome sound tool and fits in with the common adobe interface so if you know how to work with one adobe product, you can work with them all with only a little bit of new learning. I reccomend version 1.5 found as a safe trial download at http://www.download.com/Adobe-Audition/3000-2170_4-10324430.html?tag=lst-0-1
If anyone's interested in more info, or perhaps some help with getting your hands on a copy PM me.;)

Sorry if this is a bit random, but I've always wondered. D'you press down the strings like on cello, but then there's no fretboard. I don't think you just pluck it coz there's only 10 strings on the one on the front of 'Riddle' so that would be a bit boring-only ten notes!

Hi Hattie,
I am just writting a rather long complex post that, among other things, seems to answer this in the thread called "lyre". It kinda seems to fit in both threads but i think seeing as the other one is devoted especially to lyres, it might be better if we continue this convo there. :)
