Okay in the books there are places you'd put song lyrics that you thought that would be good there right like when Dernhil died I thought this song fit:

"My Old Friend" by Tim McGraw

My old friend, I recall
The times we had hanging on my wall
I wouldn't trade them for gold
Cause they laugh and they cry me
Somehow sanctify me
They're woven in the stories I have told
And tell again

My old friend, I apologize
For the years that have passed
Since the last time you and I
Dusted off those memories
But the running and the races
The people and the places
There's always somewhere else I had to be
Time gets slim, my old friend

Don't know why, don't know why
Don't know why, don't know why

My old friend, this song's for you
Cause a few simple verses
Was the least that I could do
To tell the world that you were here
Cause the love and the laughter
Will live on long after
All of the sadness and the tears
We'll meet again, my old friend

Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye

My old friend, my old friend
Goodbye, goodbye

Riddle Spoilers!!!

when Cadvan "died."

I thought the song hurt by Christina was really good for this part cause it showed Maerad's guilt. :(

Seems like it was yesterday when I saw your face
You told me how proud you were but I walked away
If only I knew what I know today

I would hold you in my arms
I would take the pain away
Thank you for all you've done
Forgive all your mistakes
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To hear your voice again
Sometimes I want to call you but I know you won't be there

I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you
Some days I feel broke inside but I won't admit
Sometimes I just want to hide 'cause it's you I miss
You know it's so hard to say goodbye when it comes to this

Would you tell me I was wrong?
Would you help me understand?
Are you looking down upon me?
Are you proud of who I am?
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To have just one more chance
To look into your eyes and see you looking back

I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself
If I had just one more day, I would tell you how much that
I've missed you since you've been away

Oh, it's dangerous
It's so out of line to try to turn back time

I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself

By hurting you

This song would take place in the middle of the Riddle, right before

Cadvan "dies".

I think it captures the angstiness perfectly. (Some parts aren't strictly accurate, but I think the song, overall, fits good.)

LITHIUM
Evanescence

Lithium, don't want to lock me up inside.
Lithium, don't want to forget how it feels without...
Lithium, I want to stay in love with my sorrow.
Oh, but God, I want to let it go.

Come to bed, don't make me sleep alone.
Couldn't hide the emptiness, you let it show.
Never wanted it to be so cold.
Just didn't drink enough to say you love me.

I can't hold on to me,
Wonder what's wrong with me.

Lithium, don't want to lock me up inside.
Lithium, don't want to forget how it feels without...
Lithium, I want to stay in love with my sorrow.

Don't want to let it lay me down this time.
Drown my will to fly.
Here in the darkness I know myself.
Can't break free until I let it go.
Let me go.

Darling, I forgive you after all.
Anything is better than to be alone.
And in the end I guess I had to fall.
Always find my place among the ashes.

I can't hold on to me,
Wonder what's wrong with me.

Lithium, don't want to lock me up inside.
Lithium, don't want to forget how it feels without...
Lithium, ...stay in love with my sorrow.
I'm gonna let it go.

This one would take place right after

Cadvan "dies"

WHAT HAPPENED TO US?
Hoobastank

(not the whole song, only parts that fit)

[Verse 1]
I thought it was too good to be true
i found somebody who understands me
someone who would help me to get through
and fill an emptiness i had inside me
but you kept inside and i just denied
some things that we should have both said
i knew it was too good to be true
'cause i'm the only one who understands me...

[Chorus]:
What happened to us?
we used to be so perfect, now we're lost and lonely
what happened to us?
and deep inside i wonder, did i lose my only?

....

we could have made it work, we could have found a way
we shoud of have done our best to see another day
but we kept it all inside until it was too late
and now we're both alone, the consequence we pay
for throwing it all away, for throwing it all away...

And the last, and my favorite one, is just something that could be throughout the whole series. The song is about leaving home, and to me, also about death.

And it's New Age, sort of, so I think it would actually fit well in the movie if they make one. (They had music kind of like it in The Lord of the Rings, in some parts)

It's beautiful, so try and find it and listen to it!

EVACUEE
Enya

Each time on my leaving home
I run back to my mother's arms,
one last hold and then it's over.

Watching me, you know I cry,
you wave a kiss to say goodbye,
Feel the sky fall down upon me!

All I am,
a child with promises
All I have
are miles full of promises of home.

If only I could stay with you,
my train moves on, you're gone from view,
Now I must wait until it's over.

All I am,
a child with promises
All I have
are miles full of promises of home

Days will pass, your words to me,
it seems so long; eternity,
but I must wait until it's over.

I can really picture this when Cadvan and Saliman part ways at the end of the Naming/the Gift

The rest I've only scaned, it's been a long day, but they seem good

This one would be from Maerad's perspective...(It's a really beautiful song, listen to it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icilgwdHiZg

I cut out the first verse that wouldn't really pertain to Maerad.

Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song)

I am waiting in a silent prayer.
I am frightened by the load I bear.
In a world as cold as stone,
Must I walk this path alone?
Be with me now.
Be with me now.

Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.
Breath of heaven.

Do you wonder as you watch my face,
If a wiser one should have had my place,
But I offer all I am
For the mercy of your plan.
Help me be strong.
Help me be.
Help me.

Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.

Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven.

I've always like that song. I think the verses kind of apply to her, but not the chorus(s). But it rocks. :D

My cello teacher brought in some of Bach's cello solos. I was totally lost and gave up after the first line or something.. lol.

But he played some and he is an amazing cellist, I'm very privileged to have him as my teacher.

When I read about Bard music, I did imagine it slightly like that.

But I did have my own ideas. Mixtures of compositions I had made myself and such. I just have a wide imagination. When I read Pellinor, I am so pulled in that I was almost in a trance. It's just.. wow.

Sorry, slightly off topic

Anyway, I think that any popular music would ruin it. It should all be orchestral, personally. Imagine Lord of the Rings. That is an amazing score :)

Umm, yeah, actually forgotten what I was gonna say :L

<3 Maerad x x x

PS Cant wait to hear it :D

LITHIUM
Evanescence

I love Evanescence! But I agree MP, it should be orchestral.
