That is my favourite poem out of the books - "Speak to me fair maid" :)
I'd love to hear a musical composition of that.

By the way, is there a full version of that anywhere? All I've been able to find is what was in the Gift/Naming.
"Speak to me, fair maid!
Speak and do not go!
What sorrows have your eyes inlaid
With such black woe?
My dam is buried deep
Dark are my father's halls
And carrion fowl and wolves now keep
Their ruined walls
Stay and heal your hurt
Lay down that brow of stone
From this day forth my hidden heart
Will be your own.
The curse of Karak binds me
My brothers are his thralls
And I must turn all joy and flee
To his foul halls..."

I thought that was the full verse - or the one in the start of The Gift, was ...

I think it's at the beginning of part one. and then Maerad and Cadvan sing it after they leave gilman's cot.

Well, it's all that's included in the verse, but it's not the full song. I didn't know if Alison had posted it somewhere.

I don't think the whole of it was ever shown, or maybe even written...a pity.

BTW, are there any talented male singers out there that would like to collaborate with me on the "Speak to me fair maid" thing? I would do it all myself but I think it'd be a thousand times cooler with the male and female interchanging verses.
Also, I'm working on getting a sample of my Lay of Ardina and Ardhor up, just so you guys know what it sounds like.

OK, here it is:
(keep in mind that this is a SAMPLE and it's extremely sloppy and off-pitch at some points)
the lay of ardina and ardhor verse one.wav - 5.29MB (http://www.zshare.net/audio/1414655298d88f5f/)
I'm singing both alto and soprano in this.
(ugh...ignore my voice cracking at the end...)
