Blag! The powers that be shut down my previous thread 'cause of potential copyright infringement. Oh well, let's start it up again.
Which songs affect you? Which songs have lyrics that really mean something to you or contain a message that you think is important? I would say "Paint it black" by the Rolling Stones, which is a very dark, very grim song. I can't (nor can you) post the lyrics here :( but you should be able to find them and the lyrics for most other songs at:
www.lyrics.com
(PS Take part in the Game Quiz thread in the Games section!)

- Clumsy, Innocent, Do You Like It, Julia (Our Lady Peace)
- Final Fantasy Themes
- No Rain, Change (Blind Melon)
- Mad World (Tears for Fears)
- The Waves (Ocean Colour Scene)
- She's So High (Tal Bachman)
- Under The Bridge (RHCP)
- Cat In The Cradle (Ugly Kid Joe)
- The Needle And The Damage Done (Neil Young)
- American Pie (Don Maclaen)
- Yesterday (The Beatles)
There are others, but that's what I thought of for now....

At the moment, one of my favorite songs is Scar by Missy Higgins. This song is absolutlely AMAZING live, :D it also helps when you've got 4000+ people all singing at the top of their lungs i suppose :D ! you can find the lyrics at Missy's website http://www.missyhiggins.com/ . I think another one of her songs was used on an ad for that TV show "Revelations" in America, the song's called All for Believing , which is another one that i love. Another two are Dancing Dirt into The Snow and Greed for your Love , forgive me for rambling on, but i just saw Missy live and loved it, so all of her songs are the ones that are sticking in my memeory at the moment :D .
Have you heard Vanessa Carlton's version of Paint it Black Zanzibar? We seem to have very similar tastes Monty... most of your favorite song's are mine as well  .
Needle in the Hay by Elliot Smith, is another song that really moves me, particularily because of the way they used it in "The Royal Tenenbuam's", that is my favorite scene in the whole movie.

Wonderful by Everclear is very meaningful to me because it was the last thing my brother and I listened to on our last outing before he moved to America

monty_mike has awesome taste in music :D ! I love all of these songs. Very cool.

Nope. So many people have covered this song but I still like the original best. The Tea Party's cover is also rather good, though.

I'd say it depends on my mood, and what I'm doing. Usually I would say I like albums, esp. the ones that are all good, not the ones with two or three good songs and lots of fluffy filling. The good one's include; Breakfast in America, Hysteria, Fool for the City, Duke Ellington, Skillet, Frederic Chopin, etc. etc. Juzzza's album is good too.(Honey)
But I have a growing playlist on the computer which, to the untrained eye, looks like a schizophrenic playground.
I have a few in my set that you won't find at lyrics.com, notably, Manzanares, who are friends of mine. Go to their website; manzanaresysol.com, and follow the links to the sample music. There are times when I could listen to "Maison" for hours at a time.

I really don't have any one song or songs that have affected me. I like a whole of stuff from Pink Floyd to Beck, but not one song really stands out too much. I will say that hearing Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here", Bruce Springsteen's "Thunder Road" and Queen's "Sheer Heart Attack" does fill with some nostalgic longings.

I'd agree with you in that I like pretty much any type of music out there. But, even so, there are always songs that I can't get out of my head.
Oh, and Pink Floyd's best song is "Comfortably Numb" ;) .
