hahaha, but I used to imagine Cadvan as being a little thick, not fat, just big boned and tall. :D Not anymore though, I don't know why, but when I started reading The Riddle he just changed, iin my imagination, into who he was meant to be, and was instead muscular but slender, not thick. So I guess the imagination is a strange thing....

Anyway...

I imagine Dernhil as being tall and slender, with dark brown hair that is kinda short, not long at all. It kind of falls over his forehead, but that's it. His doe brown eyes peer out sharply but kindly, and he reminds me kind of of a nervous person (If he were an animal, he'd be a deer). He's dressed in black librarian robes, and is tall and pale, but not as pale as Maerad. Kindly expressions, gentle hands, not exactly straight posture but close enough.

Remember Wood from Harry Potter? He's kinda like that...with slightly longer hair...

I always have difficulty imagining a character, but I think i have my own vision of what Dernhil looks like. I always imagined him as being roughly six foot, and slender, but muscular at the same time. Not in the way I think Cadvan is, more of a discreet strength. Like he appears to be weak at first sight, but if you were to look closer you'd see the smallest amount of muscles, but still enough to make him incredibly strong if needs be. In my mind he has a tendency to hunch his shoulders slightly, almost as if he is tense, and shows it through body language. I imagine him as being pale, and with dark tousled hair, not very long, and a dark brown, slightly curly. Green eyes, that are very mobile, and that instantly reveal his feelings, before he has even spoken. I think he would have very long slender fingers, like a pianists. A big smile, very reassuring, and one that reaches his eyes. Clothes i imagine would be very wrinkled, and worn.

I imagined him as a frail-looking man.... Wait, I better not continue; I think I'm the only person who actually took a dislike to that character. I don't know why, but it just happened. He annoyed me... Sorry :o. Maybe because unconsciously he reminded me of someone I don't like in real life... oh well.
Bree: I hear women like pianist fingers. Is that true? Or why did you come up with that?

I didn't like Dernhil either, but it was probably because of his relationship with Maerad, however minimal it was. But even before that, I didn't really like him. I dont know why....

Ummm, I don't know. I'm a pianist myself, and rather like the look of my slender fingers. :D Not to boast or anything.... But on a guy??? Yeah, that could look good....:D

And Bree: I imagine him like that as well, except for a few things. But the hunched shoulders was perfect; i see that too!

you're a pianist? sweet! me too!
anyway..i realize that dernhil, however small a role he played, did have an influence on maerad but for me he just isnt that important like some people think he is..if that makes any sense; his role was small, and i just didnt really grow to like him you know?

as for his looks, i see him as a typical librarian (sp? srry im tired) no glasses but kinda messy hair, not really long, but not short, kind face, etc..u get the idea

Awesome!! :D Pianists rule. :)

But yeah, I think that Alison did a good enough job describing him that we all pretty much see the same thing, apart from a few, very small, insignificant details.

I can't speak for all women, but I like pianist fingers on a guy. In fact the guy I like has them. As for why I came up for pianist fingers for Dernhil, I really don't know. I tend to imagine characters I like with long fingers. Also, I think the pianist fingers would represent Dernhil's gentle nature.
I would have pianist fingers, but I don't play piano.
:D
