Welcome Bai_xu! Glad to hear that you enjoyed the books. Now, just a note: there are people who haven't read The Riddle, so please add spoiler warnings!

Yes, one to go now. But I'm not doing what I did with The Crow and trying to write it straight it after finishing the last one. That was HELL, and it took me four times as long as the other books. My poor old brain needs to fill up first. But it won't be a long break: I'd still like The Singing to come out a year after The Crow, which would mean, all going well - cos there are always things you can't predict - mid 2007. (Yes, I know...but that's pretty quick, you know).

As for your questions:

1. My best guess is that Maerad and Cadvan couldn't meld because of the breach between them. In particular, because Maerad was feeling such enormous resentment towards Cadvan at the time, and couldn't control it even when she wanted to.

2. Cadvan is a subtle man. I think what he says to Maerad is full of feeling, and Maerad knows that. BUT Cadvan would be very aware of how much younger Maerad is, and remember how angry he was in Innail at the gossip about him and Maerad? Even if he did feel attracted to her in that way - which I'm not sure of :) (ducks) - he would not say so because he is still her guide.

3 & 4. Yep, Suzie has it right. Maerad is maimed otherwise, no one can cure that.

Questions are always welcome. Leagues vary, but I've taken it as three miles.

Why does Cadvan have to be so sensitive about these things?? Why can't he just say "I love you Maerad" and then kiss her and then she says "I love you too!". And he HAS to feel attracted to her in that way or you better duck Alison!! Lol! :)

ok,
I was just wondering, why does Ardina seem to look out for Maerad so much? apart from the fact that they're kin

Maybe its coz Ardina wants Maerad to prevail on her "mission" so she is there whenever she can be!!!!!

Its a pretty crap theory....but u kno.................
