Question about Cai. Is it pronounced "k-AI" or is it like the ancient verison of Kay, being of course Cai and pronounced "Kay"

Hi Gemini - you've picked it ;) - it's the Arthurian/Welsh Cai and so pronounced "Kay".

Dangit, and here I was thinking it was kie *as in pie* all the while... i'm going to have to get used to the new name... or i could just stick with hem... i'm pretty sure i pronounced that one right the first time - lol. :p

Just like it looks, Owleye - Cad - van :D Becks, I answered your question a little further up...

Alison, who out of all your Pellinor pplz do you think has the best name? why?

That's a bit of a hard one, Tari! I'm not sure that I have a favourite... I rather like Ardina (which of course comes from the Speech, Ardin Ilya Na, meaning Daughter of the Moon)...

I'm afraid I've thought of some more questions Alison ;) And I think it's lovely you are taking the time to answer them and satisfy our curiosity

Slight Spoiler - highlight to read because I have masterd spoiler tags yet)

We know that the quest is to reunite the two halves of the treesong but can you give any hints as to whether reuniting the song will play a part in Sharmas demise?

Do you know how many Bardic schools there are and have you got names for them all?

When choosing names for characters - how do you pick them? Is something you work out beforehand or does the name came after the character. And how important are your characters names?

Hi melliyna - it's fun answering these, especially when I ought to be, er, finishing off The Crow... (ducks missiles)

Q: We know that the quest is to reunite the two halves of the treesong but can you give any hints as to whether reuniting the song will play a part in Sharmas demise?

A: Yes, it's an important part - but not the whole of it. I'm not going to say anything more - All Will Be Revealed in The Singing... ;)

Do you know how many Bardic schools there are and have you got names for them all?

Yes, I do: there about 20 Schools (I can't remember exactly). I think most, if not all, are on the map in the books, apart from the Oz edition of The Gift, which has a dreadful map.

When choosing names for characters - how do you pick them? Is something you work out beforehand or does the name came after the character. And how important are your characters names?

Most novelists will tell you that a character's name is incredibly important...they usually happen at the same time as I think of the character. It's hard to say how I choose them. They just have to "feel" right.

Is The Crow entirely from Hem and Saliman's perspective?
