hi,
welcome Leonie to the land of fantasy nutters!

That would be really good and they could live happily ever after in that house she dreams about at the end of the Riddle :D ...or maybe not. but she can't go off with anyone else that is just not fair...it has to be Cadavan or...or...or...no one

Welcome Leonie - didn't see you there! Ah, Arkan is a bit of a wild card, no? But haven't we all fallen in love with people we shouldn't? :D It certainly woke Maerad up a bit - she's awfully chaste. And remember, she chooses to leave him...though that's much more a decision about herself than anything else.

Yep I agree if it's not Cadvan it's no one... It's not fair someone else should just wander in and make Maerad fall head over heels in love besides she trusts Cadvan and trusted him for day one that has to mean something special

Ok,
Maerad loves Arkan for some weird reason, just k'idding, so will Arkan fall for Maerad for being a rebel and for not falling into his little trap! or will it just make him angry beyond belief?

Well to me, at the end Arkan seemed pretty angry when Maerad ran away... But I think he was always angry and moody and he will most likely stay that way, but I think it would be likely for him to try and find Maerad again... after all he is a powerful Elidhu and they don't strike me as ones to give up easily, besides he's probably offended at Maerad for running away from him and would want to kidnap her back just to prove a point (Well i would if i was him  )

that's a good point! we all have fallen in love with someone we shouldn't and maybe this experience has taught Maerad a few lessons about herself and her heart. She does seem to know herself a bit better at the end of the riddle than she does at the beginning! :) But it would still be nice if she and cadavan got together at the end! I mean there are points in the books where you wonder about cadavan's feelings towards maerad. i mean what is meant by the 'tenderness' he shows when he looks at her in unguarded moments? is that the tenderness of a friend or a father figure or is it more than that?

Maybe it was the whole "Tall, dark, handsome, mysterious" thing that attracted Maerad to Arkan...
ummmm, i remember Arkan as having plae skin and white hair, so maybe "tall, light and handsome..." :D

i'm going to have to finish this post tomorrow a huge storm is coming and i have to disconnect the internet and batten down the hatches.

This topic is like a round-a-bout... round and round round it goes where it stops nobody knows! :D hmmm ok yes... well I think it may seem like Cadvan is a father figure to Maerad because it's like he protects her... Oh yeh and I just remembered wat about that bit in the Gift where they're Rachida and Maerad's sleeping outside and Cadvan comes out and "brushed back the hair from her face" ...nawww... and it also said "if she was able to see his face, she would have percieved there a tenderness that he seldom showed her" Actually there's alot in that little bit on page 278 that shows he certainly feels something for her
