are we starting the Cadvan-Maered realationship thing again???? it seems that everytime i come on there is something about Maered and Cadvan being together... lol maybe we should start up another thread on relationships in the book!

Personally, I know lots of boys (and men) who have read these books and people who email me about them seem to be about half and half, gender wise. But here it's certainly Girl Land! I'm pretty certain Akdor's a boy (are you there, Akdor, or am I just making rude assumptions?)

Maybe boys are just shyer - not that I've noticed that generally - :D

Fare the well "Books" thread, may you find peace beyond the gate :D.

It's funny, b/c i was thinking today that there were hardly any guys posting in this forum and i was wondering wether many guys would want to read Pellinor and Alison just answered it for me without my ever having to ask... what wonderful service :D :rolleyes: .

Haha Bridie mentioned a possible Mared/ Honas relationship on the now dead Books thread... yes, i'm not the only one who thinks its possible. Sorry Peter :D it seems we've already degenerated back to the relationship dicussion :D.

Yes, I've been told that The Gift is a "woman's story", but quite a lot of the adult friends of mine who have rather surprised me by going completely gaga over it are men. (I didn't expect this reaction from some of my artist friends...but a couple in particular wouldn't talk about anything else for a while after they read it! Not that I'm complaining...) And yes, there seems to be a healthy male readership, despite appearances here. (You're a brave man, Peter!) But the fact is, I don't really know: I only know about what readers think and who they are when they tell me, after all, which is why it's so nice hearing from you all in this forum.

And it's not surprising that there's a focus on relationships in the discussions, because they are so much an important part of the books! Aside from the romantic possibilities for Maerad, there's all the stuff about her mother and father, and the brother/sister stuff with Hem. And various friendships.

Now getting ready for the (first) rewrite of The Crow, which I'm looking forward to - though I'm going to finish my Young Cadvan story first! I've got a couple of jobs to do before I get to Hem and Saliman.

I give in... realtionship seems the main thing anyone wants to talk about lol, but how many times do you have to re-write a book before it is published Alison? And im looking forward to hte Young Cadvan Story.. hopefully it is published in a small novel as another book in the world of Annar

awww come on pete alsmot everything is based around relaionships!and its all rather intresting.ok well i cant wait for the cadvan story part 2 :D :D that was a good question about how many times a book has to be re-written before it is finished can we expect lots of changes in the first 4 chapters?

i would have thoguht the gift was a woman story too but obviously not!peter is such a brave person*smiles* lol how many guys have come to this forum?

i always like a book to have a healthy amount of relationship its a good thing.

how many pages were there too the books thread lol i know it was a huge number..

Peter - I hope you don't feel too lonely out there!

Well Patrick (aka as Professor Insole, my favourite designer, who does the UK books and is really supportive of them) has now read The Crow and thinks it's the best yet - though he added he thought this might be a bit of a "boy thing", which is why I mention this. (And also because I'm pleased he likes it). Of course, The Crow is where the big battles happen, and there's a lot of action. It's also by far the darkest so far, but this is where the story was always going...

But there's still a fair bit of relationship, I'm afraid! :eek:

Woo, it would be the shortest novel in the world! About five pages or something. Anyway, I'm going to try to finish it tonight. But yes, maybe for future time, when I've got to the end of this story, it might be something to think about. I've got another couple of books that I have ideas for at the moment (not set in Annar, but both different kinds of fantasy), and I want to write them too...

Personally, I think that the whole relationship conversation thing is going on because the majority of us here are girls. Maybe its something to do with hormones and the age that most of us are at.

*shrugs* All I know is, I couldnt get enough of that lovey dovey stuff when I was thirteen/fourteen. I think now that im sixteen I can see past the whole romance of the thing to the relationship side. (Oh yea *rolls eyes* and because im sixteen I know everything...)

Oh! and Id also like to know how you write, is it with a word document on the computer? How many pages etc...
Its all very fascinating. :p
