Relationships in the book

Hi Manda! I'm glad you find the Elidhu fascinating - I must admit that I'm finding them more and more interesting as the books go on, although they were always going to be important. As for Arkan and Maerad - well, that's the million dollar question! (There's a bit more Elidhu business in The Crow too ;) )

Note to all: watch those spoilers - there are people who won't see The Riddle until next year - though maybe we should put spoiler warnings on the whole forum! ;)

Well here's my spoiler warning to everyone: There's going to be a lot of spoilers here. Done. Spoiler coming ...

This is a spoiler. You have just been potentially spoiled. If you have not read "The Riddle" and went here YOU COULD HAVE JUST RUINED THE WHOLE BOOK FOR YOURSELF. Just kidding. The books will always be awesome no matter if you know what will happen. Right? *imagines you nodding*Right. Now stop trying to spoil it for yourself ... PS: This is a long spoiler hey? Even though it technically isn't a spoiler ...

DONE! Hmmm, I think that's the first spoiler I've ever done. You can tell, can't you?

Seeing as how everyone's offering their address, I feel compelled to give mine as well, even if just for the sake of it: heynonnynonnymylord@hotmail.com
Add me if you want!

Back to the Elidhu. I thought they were incredibly interesting, and like soul_elements they struck me as very similar to the Greek Gods. They're quite hard to empathise with, because they dont seem to have human emotions, and in the way they distance themselves from the human goings-on in Edil-Amarandh. Like the Greek Gods, they intervene when they want to, and dont seem to favour any particularly side exept upon occasional whim.

I thought they were quite like the elves from LOTR but more distant. The elves have very clearly set themselves against Sauron in LOTR but in the elidhu seem more fickle in who they support. Their way of life (of what we know) seems to be focused on the beauty of life and yet they seem like they don't feel emotions in the same way as humans which I thought was quite similar to elves.

I don't know if there was any point to writing this but anyway... :)

Interestng, Leonie. I hadn't really made an Elvish connection, although Ardina could be seen as a tad Elvish. Though I also think she's something like Ishtar! :D We don't see much of the real wild Elidhu in these books; both Arkan and Ardina are a bit atypical, in that they had a lot to with humans, in the days of Afinil and the Dhyllin.

So does that mean we are going to meet some 'wild' Elidhu in the next books? ones that haven't had much to do with humans? :)
