Relationships in the book

On another note, you know what's rather ironic? I discovered this other series this year called The Chanters of Tremaris trilogy, also written by an Australian woman. I've read the first two books, but guess what - I don't get to read the final book until MAY NEXT YEAR. I forgot to add that this trilogy is also about a young woman who discovers she holds immense power... they use singing as a form of magic. They're great books, I highly recommend them. The first is called The Singer of All Songs, and it's by Kate Constable.
HEY! i've read those! yay! i'm lucky enough to be in Australia :D and i've read the last one, nicely rounds off the trilogy IMO....... Calwyn and Darrow, soooooo sweeeeeet :D

Gaaahhhh all you lucky Aussies... I seem to be discovering more and more Aussie books that I love these days but I have to wait forever to read them. You guys don't...

Hm this discussion is about relationships. Since I've only read The Naming, I'm curious to know more about Maerad's father and his background and if it's important or not... i.e. did she inherit any special powers from his side? I also think Lady Ardina is a distant ancestor of Maerad... not sure if that's through her mom or dad's side, though.

I also want to know more about what the relationship between Maerad's parents were like; all I can tell is that they must have loved one another very much.

Wait and see impatient.........I always want to know what happens before I read it but there is nothing compared to the suspense of learning things as the story unfolds. I am nearly finished reading the riddle and would recommend the series so far to anyone ( I am often telling people that they should read more (What is wrong with people?!?) I was really lucky to pick up both the first and second book as signed copies so treasure them all the more. I can't wait until Alison releases the next book (although I will have to wait until it comes out in paperback as I hate reading hardback books). :o

Hi Custos Moram and Kadge - the GOOD news, Kadge, is that in the UK the Pellinor books come out straight in paperback - so when The Crow comes out next year you can just rush out and buy it! And Custos, to answer your question - yes, Maerad finds out much more about her father in The Riddle. The Elemental ancestry from Ardina is actually through her mother, but there are hints that it also comes through the Pilanel ancestry of her father as well...

Alison

Great news about the book coming straight out in paperback. I am soooooo looking forward to finding out more (Will you be there to sign it at some point?????).

On the flip side. Why tantilisereaders that should know better than reading the synopsis? I personally think that it spoils things. I read the second book through merit of the first and I am glad that I did.

I found your books to be encapsulating. Thank you. I like to know that there are other worlds out there!!

Is there a chat type forum here? Sorry but I am new to all this. I recently found this site and would like to chat to those of similar nature!

Does anyone else feel like they are on an atom floating round in a table leg .....................

Hi Kadge - tantalising readers is my favourite hobby ;) - if you look at the forum, there is a chattery thread, which is there for random chatting. Within reason, we like to keep other threads here more or less on topic, so people who are reading them - of which there are a few - don't have to scroll through screeds of (to them) irrelevant nonsense.

Sweet, the author herself replied to me! Alison, I just wanted to say that it's extremely cool that you post on this forum... there aren't many authors who interact so freely with their fans out there (that I know of). It's interesting that Maerad has Elidhu ancestry from both sides of the family... it's like... double the Elidhu power!

And... does anyone know how I could get a copy of The Riddle? Will I have to order it from England or Australia if I don't want to wait til next year to read it?
