MSN is stupid. And so is Hotmail. It gives you heaps of viruses. Ooops, off the topic. Sorry. What's the thread about again? Oh yeah, relationships in the book ... Just thinking ... poor Arkan. The Elidhu remind me of the Greek gods. Do you think they ever wonder what being human/mortal is like?

Yes, all the time :D, lol, i can't help but think that it would be a real b*tch being an elvish prince/princess as you'd probably never get your hands on that throne, poor Legolas .
hmm, i don't get viruses
But those Elidhu are kind of tragic aren't they? (It's pronounced eli-thu isn't it?)

But those Elidhu are kind of tragic aren't they? They also seem to be quite lonely too as well as tragic

Smart observation, soul_elements - the Elidhu (yes, that's how you pronounce it) are very like Greek Gods, especially in their attachment to particular places. Though there's no Mt Olympus (or Uttermost West) in this story - their world is our world... and on the whole they have less to do with human affairs than the Greek Gods, who are always meddling

I think they do wonder what it is to be mortal. And I don't think they understand it at all, because for them all times co-exist. Ardina is certainly tragic, in that she mentions that she wanted death at one stage, when Ardhor died, and could not have it.

The Elidhu are fascinating because they are immensely powerful yet sensitive and vulnerable at the same time. They can be cold and cruel but also have a great capacity to love. Arkan possesses frightening powers but is unable to heal his own broken heart.
The relationship between Arkan and Maerad is really interesting. How much of Maerad's desire for Arkan comes from her and her Elidhu blood, and how much is because he has 'bewitched' her?
