This may sound silly to some, but I have been intrigued over the years by the way certain phrases in the media creep into novels, even those in our own genres. For example, as recently as two days ago, a Taliban soldier, when asked what he thought about Americans, replied: "When they unravel their turbans, small animals fall out!" This, of course, was meant to be a scathing rebuke, though it is doubtful westerners perceive it as such and I'll wager it will find itself into the literature, sooner or later. Have any of you discovered any similar quotations that may stand the test of time?
