Lol, it's been so long since I was last here...SORRY TO ABANDON YOU ALL!!!

I think I last posted to this before The Crow came out, I read the whole of that book at the airport :p

I didn't read the whole of this thread since there was a lot more talking since I left...and I'm vaguely lazy...so what're talking about now?

Yeah...okay, I'm new, but whatever, and hi. I'm also a raving, posessed fan of these books. :D

My reaction to the Riddle...well, I was actually reading it under my covers at night, on Christmas Eve. With a flashlight, in case you didn't figure that out.

I read those passages (the Gwalhain Pass incident) several times, trying to figure out why my brain was putting in words that couldn't be true on the page. Then, as I took in that they were true...I cried. I put down the book and cried.

Then I flipped through the rest of the book, searching for the group of letters that spelled 'Cadvan'. And when I finally found them, on the last like four pages of course, I read the whole ending. Satisfied, I went to sleep. The next morning, I skimmed through the part that I'd skipped, spoiling practically the whole thing for myself in the process. Then I read it the right way. :o

Lol! Sounds like a good way to do it. :D

I was one of those people who figured that Cadvan couldn't die in the books because he wrote them with Maerad. This was before I discovered that the issue of Maerad and Cadvan being the writers was actually a hotly debated topic in scholarly circles (;)), so I was lucky enough to have peace of mind while reading The Riddle. I think I may also have read a couple of spoilers beforehand, that let me know it was all a mistake.

To which all I can say is: Phew! Cadvan dying is too horrible a thought to even contemplate and it probably would have spoiled my whole enjoyment of the book, even as great as it is, thinking that he was. Though maybe even without knowing beforehand, I would have been sceptical: because of cases such as this, I've grown wary of supposed character deaths in ficion. I doubt I would have really believed he was gone until a body was produced. :P

Wow, nice, both of you! :D

I probably wouldn't have survived the book if I hadn't skipped to the end. I swear, I was this close to not reading the rest of the book, or the series. That's how attached I was. Am.
