I found an interesting and amusing list of overused cliches on the net.
Whats good about it is that it classifies them according to credibility, frequency, etc
Take a look for yourselves:

mmm, nice list. Now I can point to something and say, "This is what you need to avoid."

That's a great page! The funny thing is, an author with decent skill at writing could take that as a real blueprint and bang out a novel comporable to what's on the shelves now. So what shall I call my Hero/Loser....

Yeah, it's kind of depressing, isn't it? If you followed those cliches and formulas, you're a hell of a lot more likely to get past the gatekeeper.

Reviewing the list, I think I avoided most of the cliches I want to avoid, but I found a few ideas too. Like the cliche that alcohol is the only drug in a society, and it shouldn't be.

In my opinion, it all depends on the writer. If the writer is a good story teller, I could care less about the cliches. Anyway, that's just me.

Killjoys. This is an older list and is much more fun, especially as we face the last Star Wars movie. I'm disappointed that they don't have the princess and hero lists on the official site, but I have excerpts from those somewhere.

I've seen this one before, on someone's blog, but I can't remember who. Anyway, it's worth checking out, quite funny.
