I just had the weirdest image fly through my mind: Imagine the books being set in the Aussie outback with all the actors having really strong Aussie accents. How terrible! UGH! I mean, I'm all for Australia and all but I really don't see it being set in our outback. The Snowy Moutains have potential, though ...

I think I'd rather like Joaquin Phoenix as Cadvan. It's the eyes and sad face, I think ... And you've gotta say that Joaquin Phoenix is an awesome name. Is it his real name? Anyway, his name could almost have come from a fantasy book! :p

I dont think that Joaquin Phoenix would make a good cadvan i think he couldn't get across everything that cadvan is or even isn't it needs to be someone dark. although Joaquin Phoenix is cute and does have good name!

i think they would be set in new zeland like LOTR i'd love to see the books made in to films but in a way i dont want any one to destroy the beauty of these books and ruin it.

Okay i agree Eva Green is the closest there. but i think that there should be an unknown discovered for this part. hmmm. . . . someone . . . .someone like . . . . .well theres me . . . :D . . . . kidding or my friend Emma who i think is actually i good Maerad. . . . . . but yeh an unknown. so next character. i think someone mentioned earlier Joaquin Phoenix for Arken and in all honesty (no offense) but NO! he really would not suit that role. and im shocked that someone hasnt mentioned Jonny Depp in all this actor stuff. although im not too sure who he could play if he did.

my friend and i were mucking around in Drama the other day and we acted out a scene between Maerad and Cadvan. i was Cadvan and Emma was Maerad twas quite amusing really and i think this would make a really good stage production rather than a movie but it would need alot of adjusting and chopping. . . . . unfortunately thats show biz.

soz i've just been doin Drama Homework and it got me thinking so i thought since i had disappeared since my trip away i wouldcheck out this thread and see if it had avanced.

Hi everyone :)

I spent a lot of time reading all this stuff about who would be the best actor for which character, and it really made me think about how I see the characters (especially since I hardly know any of the actors you know...this whole other-side-of-the-world thing dosnīt work to well I guess).

Well...I realized that I donīt really want to see the characters at all. I hink if they made movies out of the books, I would probably watch them, but then I would spend the next two days complaining about how they messed everything up... :(

Today I tried to draw Maerad and it just didnīt work, because I thought, I had a picture of her in my head, but then I realized that it was more a picture of her inside...her feelings and everything (do you get what Iīm trying to say?).

So all in all I think that it would be hard to show in a movie the things that I think are best about the books. In my opinion what makes the books so great are the things you canīt see, all the emotions and memories. Just think about how hard it would be to make an empty landscape look sad and desperate...

well thatīs enaugh of my opinions ^^"

Also i was watching the travel channel the other day and it struck me that Mongolia would be the perfect place to film plains stuff and Zmarkan. The nomadic thing (heh) that the mongolians have reminds me of the Pilanel.

Maerad: Alexis Bledel (she's brunette and blue-eyed)
Cadvan: Well my first choice - Johnny Depp (just cause i really life him) and secondly Colin Firth (he was AWESOME as Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice) Or perhaps Ian Gruffard or however you spell his name - he plays Mr. Fantastic and Lancelot.
Hem: THe dude from a series of unfortunate events - Klaus.
Dernhil - second choice for cadvan (maybe Joaquin Phoenix)
Nerili: Bryce Dallas Howard (the girl in The Village)
The WinterKing: Third choice for Cadvan, perhaps Colin Firth, or maybe Gerard Butler

Anyway gtg do hmk. ta.

ooo Bryce Dallas Howard is an excellent actress... tho, don't you think she's a tad to young to be Nerili? If she was a few years older she do well IMO.

But, please... COLIN FIRTH as the WINtERKING! PAH! GAG! NO WAYYYY!!!!
he's only ever done that sort of bumbling, somewhat shexy :D, romantic. I don't think, or at least i've never seen him in anything where he's anything substantially different. To me he could never be the sort of menacing, striking, immoral, salient being that Arkan is, i just really doubt that he could pull it off.
