Just thinking: Alison must get a laugh out of threads like these when she already knows/part knows what will happen.

I personally dont mind what happens, as long as it's as engaging to read as the first two books. After saying that, I however think that to some extent Maerad has to face up to the fact of the "darkness growing inside of her" or how ever it was put. As this "evil Maerad" theme seems apparent through the whole of the first two books I think something has to happen inside her mind concerning this. Her elemental powers will probably also have some influence in how she thinks/acts and most probably cause her to be more inderpendant, if not a bit "self-centred" (like what Potter was like in HP when he got moody over being the "chosen one" and have everything depending on him as he has special powers).

well Alison, I hope you got a laugh from this post, or if not, from this thread in general.

I'm off,

I have a theory which is not avtually that relevant to the 'Maerad evil' idea but anyway I want to know what people think or whether I'm just being stupid!

When Maerad is escaping from Arkan's palace, she sees through the illusion of the beautiful palace. well what if the way she saw Arkan was an illusion. could he in fact be a really ugly and deformed guy and what she saw was only an illusion which when she is in her full power she will be able to see through. Because in the book she does know that he has done something to her with magic, what if it was to make her see him as handsome, etc so that she would 'fall in love with him'?
