I'll add my my twopennyworth to this, if it's any help. Anyway:

Maerad has problems trusting any man because of the violence in the cot. To expand on this, she flees from Dernhil because of the actions of Burke (he tried to rape her once), and she also flashbacks to that episode in the cot, and her previous experiences of men in general at various times (when thinking about her decision to leave Gilman's Cot, when Dernhill kisses her...).

However, during her travels with Cadvan, she gradually learns to overcome her worries about travelling with him. (In fact, in general, Maerad overcomes many of her fears.)

I can't give quotes to back this up, as I lent my book out. It may not be of any use, but I thought I would add it anyway. Ignore it if it's no use.

Basically...Maerad was incredibly edgy around men,due to her previous experiences and early memories (men ransacking her home/school, being beaten,thrashed,punished and almost raped by them) and was in many ways, a loner. Slowly, Cadvan neutured the small spark of trust still within her, however also cautioned her to still be wary. Good luck! :D

My advice is get quotes first then you can make up some random stuff that backs up the quote and explains how she changes. Remember you don't have to agree/believe with what your saying, just as long as it sounds good and intelligent!

Treachery=gripping
death=alot of tears/possible lack of fans for alison!
Less Death people! God it sounds like we're all threatening eachother with death! No PEOPLE NO! (or juniors/ancient wisend ones)i'm an inbetweeny... :( 4 months as silver serpent...god knows how long as *sob sob* cheeky *choke* monkey.... :( :( I don't think that Maerad will actually turn eil...but she may have to pretend to be evil to fool the darker powers of their world... :rolleyes:

you know what? i dont think hem or maerad OR cadvan will die! i think saliman will die cause hes not as important but still greatly loved. he will die tragically while saving maerad from the dark and save the day giving her the chance to kill the nameless one . so theres your sacrifice and there is still room for the love between maerad and cadvan

and

(DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE FIRST 4 CHAPTERS OF "THE CROW", SPOILER!!!!!)
possibly romance between hem and zelika :D

so they morn saliman of course but then get on with their lives and rebuilt everywhere! perfect AND plausible ending
