One of my professors at the University I just graduated from, and am going back to for grad work, just donated me his collection of sci-fi and fantasy from when he was a student. There are about 50 books (doubling my own collection) from Moorcock, Heinlein, Feist, Bradbury, Eddings, and others — even a Dune boxed set from when God Emperor was the newest book! OMG, he's the greatest professor in the freaking universe!!! And they are in great shape, too. Wow. I'm still stunned.
Here's a tip, college students: Go make friends with the professors. I know an English teacher everybody thinks is a total freak. Who knew she loves Tolkien and action movies? Another prof, really old, teaches Shakespeare and everyone is scared of him — he reads Star Wars novels and Harry Potter! Go hang out in their offices, chat with them. You'll be glad you did.
