Well I'm just posting this thread because I havent seen any evidence of her presence on this site... so i was just wondering if anyone else had read it? It's one of my absolute all time favourite fantasy series'.
Well come on people! :)

Well, I haven't read anything by her - and so far am still just not interested in changing that. :o
So why I am posting?
Because:
I havent seen any evidence of her presence on this site...
As if!
This is the moment when I like to point (with a air hostess-like hand motion) to the Search function - in the upper right quadrant on your screen. You might be surprised to find her name mentioned here some times and even two or three threads with her name in it. :p
(But wouldn't know about ML herself being present on this site. ;) )
:D

I seem to have a harder time putting down her books than any other author I can think of. That's usually not a problem for me.
I think I have read all the Valdemar books, and a good bit of her other work. The Bardic Voices set is good, except for the naming. The elves-in-America/Diana Tregarde/bardic magic collection is also interesting. Then there's . . .
I guess the point is that, to me at least, she tells a good story. I will read anything if the story is told well.

I've read a few of them. The last Herald mage trilogy is the only one that has made a lasting impression, but i read it at a very impressionable age :D It has a very poignant ending.
The other Valdemar books i've read have been a bit formulaic. At least the formula is Lackey's own instead of Tolkiens; but there are too many misunderstood teenage characters with amazing super-powers they either don't know about or can't control
The writing is usually ok, but i've put down a number of her books because i'm just not interested in birds or horses.
I wonder if a book has ever featured a race of bird-men that don't love flying and constantly rhapsodize about it in their heads? Human characters generally don't obsess about their ability to walk. :p

Lol. I've never thought of it quite that way before... That just goes to show you I should never try to write about a winged-man race :p.

Ive read a good part of the series - all very good. But then, I am biased - look at my avatar. I like birds.
I also have a sizable collection of music based on the books - I think its written by Lacky also.
