I got it today at approximately five o'clock. I had to give a guitar lesson which took quite a lot of time but I'm 100 pages in and I like it...

336 pages too short? There's a lot that can happen to Parrish in 336 pages... very nice cover too.

After forcing myself to put it down at about midnight I can safely say it is too short. I can also say I amaze myself with my own incompetance. I left it at home when I left for work this morning... :(

just popped in and saw your posts!

Aaah Jac, I'm sorry it's too short! Better tell me how, in what way so I can
work on that next time. One of the difficulites I have with Parrish is that when she's on a roll doing things I kinda find it hard to stop and sniff the roses, get other character stuff in, develop all the things I should.
It's like one of those lifts with the glass door. Things whizz by and I can't quite get a good enough glimpse of them and stay on the ride!

Please feel free to post any criticisms so I can get a handle on weaknesses.
All please tell scenes that do work. Nice to know which those are as well.

Jac, I did a reading on Tuesday night at a function using the scene at the beginning where the shape changers mug her in her room, complete with Teece interlude. Got everyones eyes popping :)

You can't stop there! Now what am I going to do?

On a slightly more serious note I really enjoyed it. I found it the most enjoyable of the three, the hardest to put down. It was only too short in that it was over too quickly.

If I have any complaints then it was that Parrish didn't seem overly bothered when she found out the identitiy of her mystery saviour. It could be the fact that I was reading it in the middle of the night but I would have expected some more emotions from someone supercharged with the Eskaalim (?sp). Even so I loved it.

You read that section? Lol! My god you're brave. Thinking about it there was an awful lot more sex in this one. Was that because you felt more able to write the book you wanted to write or a concious decision because of the ongoing story?

As to the big piles of books I reckon they only put them out on display because it might stop me rearranging their shelves every time I walk past! Incidentally, it's probably worth mentioning that S is talking about the Waterstones at Charring Cross (Trafalgar Square) which gets a HUGE amount of passing trade...

So, space opera eh? When can we expect the first?

hmmm. yes more sex because I wanted that to be the way the Eskaalim got her. She was battling so hard to suppress the violence that it snuck up through pleasure.

I have plans for two more Parrish books which will encompass the BIG war. I don't know that the emphasis on sex would necessarily stay in them. However, for this one it had to be her undoing.

Point taken on the revelation. Again I think a symptom of her already set down a course of action and having her focus (my focus) ahead.

sort of space opera. not quite sure how to categorise it. Out mid next year I think.

keep your fingers crossed on some film nibbles I've been having. If there was one thing you wouldn't want changed by film adaptation, what would it be?
