Surely not.....However, I wonder how the Treesong is linked with Sharma's death, will the song kill him? Isn't the treesong linked to the spell he used to cast off his name? So if Maerad sings it or performs it, however you do it , would it undo that spell taking away his immortality and considering he's something over 1000 years old, wouldn't he wither and die?

Does he even have a body anymore? The Binding spell simply prevents him from going through the Gates, so maybe he is only left as a kind of evil spirit/ghosty thing?.
Also, could people please ease of the excessive [s¡ze] tags? They take up a heap of space, and I don't really think it would be a good thing for this board to descend to cries of OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!11!1oneone. :o
Thanks. :)

Not more wicked plots?!
Sharp eyed people besides Suzie will have noticed that my book bio reveals my home town... Luckily it's a large place (size wise, anyway) and most of the time I live quietly disguised as an eel. oops shouldn't have said that
As for Sharma... well, time will tell, I guess!!

That explains it, then - I always thought it was an odd place for an eel to be living... ;)

That's probably what'd happen, but remember we don't actually know how the spell works, only that it works in the first place. If (say) the spell freezes his body from ageing, then after singing the treesong you'd still have to wait another 200 odd years (Bard's triple lifepsan) for him to go senile... Any comments, Alison? :)
Also, what is the lifespan of a "normal" human in different regions, say, Norloch, Ettinor, Innail, Zmarkan...?

Interesting question. Actually, the spell which prevents aging and dying is more what Hulls have, who then collapse into their age when they are killed - as you know, they can only be killed by sorcery or magery. Sharma's spell is certainly to do with the Treesong and the Elidhu - but it seems more complicated than the Hull spell. Remember when Ardina says in the first book that she cannot follow Ardhor beyond the Gates? Sharma has managed to do that himself, so his soul can never leave this dimension or place; he can move from body to body. And because he isn't an Elidhu, he exists in constant torment. So it's a different kind of spell...
Jarrad, I haven't worked out various lifespans, but they would be what you might expect from extrapolating from normal human lifespans. Ie, somewhat shorter among the Jussacks, where life is very tough, and probably a man of 40 would be considered old, and quite long in the wealthier parts of Annar and the Seven Kingdoms.

Just asking because of the "triple lifespan" thing - if you had the (Australian) life expectancy of 75 for guys and 80 for girls, then thats 225 and 240, respectively but if it was like 60, then bards would only live until 180. Would a Zmarkan Dhillarearen only live to be 120?

You're a tricky one, Akdor! Not sure about the Zmarkan Dhillararean - they might be able to transcend the mortality trends of their people and have lifespans close to Annar Bards. Your estimates are about right, though there are exceptions - Nelac is close to 300.
