I was cruising around the Fantastic Metropolis Forum (on Delphi) and found this ditty on another site about a contest. I guess it's in Canada. Not much of a prize, but maybe some fun.
Here's what I found:

From our pals at www.Specficworld.com (http://www.Specficworld.com) comes a contest for aspiring writers to
enter:

ConVersion 19/CanVention 22 Short Story Contest.
Writers are invited to submit their previously unpublished short stories to the
ConVersion 19/CanVention 22 Short Story Contest.SF/F/DF short stories only.
Two submissions allowed per person. 5,000 word limit, *firm*. Blind judging
format. Two categories: Apprentice and Journeyman. Deadline for submissions --
April 1st, 2002. Top five stories in each category will be published in ConTales
2002. No entry fee for members of ConVersion 19/CanVention 22. $5.00 entry
fee otherwise.

Cash prizes:
Apprentice level: Open to writers with fewer than three published short stories
(paid), or one novel published in the genre. First prize $200; Second prize $150;
Third prize $100 Canadian $$.

Journeyman level: Open to writers with fewer than twelve published short
stories (paid) or 1 to 2 novels in the genre. First prize $250; Second prize $200;
Third prize $150 Canadian $$.

For your entry fee you will receive: 1 copy of the ConTales publication and a
line-by-line critique and edit by one of our Short Story contest pre-judges. Please
visit http://www.con-version.org/story.html for *all* the rules
and details. Email rmherrin@ucalgary.ca with questions.
