What do you mean by saying "prequel"?

Well sequal would be a follow on... prequal is what came before the main story (or first movie). For instance, A prequal to Lord of the Rings would be if they made a movie of "The Hobbit". Similarly, a prequal of "The books of Pellinor" might be something depicting events before teh start of The Gift. Perhaps "Cadvan" - exploring his life before, or his previous adventures working for the light. Or maybe the story of the great silence.

what kind of animated? are we talking cartoons or CGI? CGI would be better imo you wouldn't have the problem of actors looking the part still and it would look better...

Argh! CGI would be horrifying! lol. Can you imagine Cadvan and Maerad in Shrek-type animation?

lol. I'd love to see an anime version, or an disney-style drawn version of Pellinor. I loved old disney films like the Road to El-Dorado and the Emperor's New Groove (personal favourites, lol). but Disney does't make them any more... :(

An actor version would also be a good idea, and it would probably be hard to make it well. I'd love to see it like something LotR. :p And yes, if they want to make it well, they would probably need one hell of a budget

CGI...now there's an idea...

My vote would be for traditional film - that includes CGI when needed, much in a LOTR type fashion.

Yhank you know I understand prequel. Like what they did with Star Wars.

My vote would be for traditional film - that includes CGI when needed, much in a LOTR type fashion.

I say Aye to that Idea if they must make a movie.

You know... all these comparisons with LotR... I just realised... the stories of Pellinor and LotR are really quite similar. O.o With the dark side (Nameless/Sauron), the betrayals (Enkir/Saruman), a quest (finding the treesong/destroying the ring), seeing the world for the first time(Gilman's Cot/Shire), travelling (Innail, Norloch, Busk/Rivendell, Rohan, Gondor)...

If made well, this movie will sell. :P

I still think that making a movie will be a desaster and until someone can scientifically prove that a movie will help, I will believe that.

unless it turns out something like LoTR than id rather it not turned into a book...but who knows...maybe somewhere right now a director is considering it :D

The harsh truth is that (at least where I am) the Pellinor series are very little known (why???  ). I have wheedled one (now addicted) person onto them and lent the Riddle to another who had read the Gift once and vaguely remembered it but that is ALL. I try to publicise it, but... My copy of the Gift is falling apart so I don't want to lend it out.
Therefore, I think a movie is unlikely, and to be honest maybe this is a good thing, I for one dont want it ruined! However, it could really, really enhance the book and be wonderful...and in that case I'd be so for it!!

btw don't you hate those books which were there before the movie but after it get cover designs of the film and stills from it inside? Like they're spin-offs themselves
