lol it wasnt meant to leave you all so speechless! Come on people comments, retaliations DEBATE! :p hehehe

I forget that you guys arent the old crowd... Its actually my full time job to think about film semiotics - Im a DoP (Director of Photography). Of course it doesnt make me all right all the time... the main point of that little rant was to bring up some interesting points for discussion. I honestly just get a bit sick of the same old points coming up again and again - "we dont want a film at all it will wreck the book - eg harry potter".

Ok the job thing makes sence for all the information. And well, I for one found the whole text a bit overmelming.

Ok thought of this comement last night well rereading a part of the Riddle. Yes books and films are completly different. One is write infomation (weather it is true or false) and the other is seen and heard information. But no matter what, when you go to the core of it, they both just give information. And so that makes it possible to make a book a film or a film a book. I believe that we both agree on that right?

But a film tells its story in its own language.
That is so, but you must not forget that the language of a film is similar to the way our imaginations interperate the book. Think about it, have you met someone who thinks about a book and imagings in form of the symbols we call letters. It would weird.

Oh and I for one didn't think the Harry Potter movies were all that bad. Or at least till they changed derectors. the new one is not the best.

I love anime, and I'd love to see an anime Pellinor series, but again, somehow it seems like we're making fun of it as an anime. Anime is kind of... informal and cartoony in a way, and Pellinor's very ... can't express it really:confused:
however, if it's normal, it'll be very LotRish, and everyone who sees it will think:" That's just a Tolkien ripoff," and that'll make everyone think the books are the same. And they're not, obviously. And then... it should be left as a book:)

How about a Final Fantasy Pellinor, I mean those graphics are outstanding. They look real.

Really, though, I'd only trust 1 group to make an animated Pellinor, and that is..*drum roll*

DISNEY! :D

sorry, Disney gave me a very happy childhood, so I love them
:o :p  :D

(I still want it to be real people though. I'm just giving my animated opinion.)

I agree with you. Though anime could possibly work imo...Disney, no.

Personnally, when I think of an annimated movie I think of little kids. The pellinor books, in my mind, at the best child friendly books. They may not be rated R, but I wouldn't want, say, the kids who I babysit to see just yet. If the movies were annimated, they might give off a bad impression.

Or they could take out what makes the story itself and create a more 5-year old friendly version...
