I don't know who many of you will find this useful, but I came across this generator

It creates pictures of characters and you can choose everything from gender and skin colour to the outfits. You can get some *very* strange combinations and it's great fun.
It is also downloadable (is that a word?) for my favourite price - free http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
