As I stumbled through the doors of the ticket office onto the station platform at 7am this morning I happened I happened to glance up. Staring across at me were the words R SCOTT BAKKER in letters almost a foot high. (I don't remember the exact words of the rest of the poster so forgive me for paraphrasing) His book rocks, go buy it now it told me. You know what? I think I might...

Just thought you might like to know.

Cool! :)

I've been seeing more and more about Bakker. I think he's just been added to my neverending To-Read list! Sigh.

BTW, I visited London last year and thought it was great. I loved it! I loved the Underground too, though I imagine a daily commute on it would get somewhat annoying after a while.

Jac, this may seem bizarre, but any chance you could take a digital photo of the poster and send it to me... it's perfect for an essay I am doing?

I would be in your debt.

Cool, I'm going down there for a gig and family visit next week. What station would it be or is it everywhere?!

I think he means our local station, Leiali, about 50 mins out from London.

I would be in your debt. And, as J doesn't own a digital camera, also in mine :D

(Never miss a chance to have someone in your debt ;))

The above was free (very good) advice, for which you are all now in my debt.

;) :D

Evil, the Tube is really atmospheric but it can be almost unbearable in rush hour. Especially when its hot as there is no air-con...

Juzz, sure thing. I was thinking about getting a pic for here actually, but I'll see what I can do tonight.

Leiali, I get on the Waterloo Train in Haslemere, Surrey. I've haven't noticed them anywhere else but then I haven't noticed that one before. In general if there is one there are a few. I'd guess a deal has been struck with South-East Trains.

Might be nice to see that picture round here, if poss.......

Slightly off topic: As my HB Book Club copy of Darkness is out on loan, I got a copy of the PB with a signed bookplate from Scott in it. I also bought the same for Warrior (though it's not out yet).

If you are in the UK (like Jac) you might want to go to The Book Place, (link HERE) (http://www.thebookplace.com/) whilst they still have them....

And it keeps getting crazier and crazier...

That is at once too cool and too weird. Thank you, Jacquin!

Now I'm dying to see what it looks like. Seriously. I'll send a signed HC of The Warrior-Prophet to the first person to post a pic here!

Does anyone know how long those posters typically stay up? I'll actually be in London in the last week of August, and I imagine there's little chance that it'll still be around.

It depends really. Some posters are only there for a matter of weeks - like for a film. Some are up for months. I guess it depends on how much the advertiser is willing to pay. I am out of the competition as I don't have a camera, let alone a digital one, and I'll only be on the tube a couple of times. I usually get the bus in london. It's cheaper and quicker! Are you doing any book promotions in London Scott or holidaying?
