Do you like that kind of music. Where the genre is about dragons, magic and battles? I'm listeting from some time metal band called Avantasia, there is a lot fantasy things in their songs. And what about other bands like Blind Guardian\singing about Lotr\ and Manowar/dont know maybe about Conan The Barabarian/

They're usually really cheesy, like Manowar, but Winterfell is a good band.

Try the dual cd Sirius B/Lemuria by Therion. Symphonic/operatic powermetal that rates as one of my all time favorites. Mastodon's Leviathan is about Moby Dick but is a brutal/melodic type of metal. Gamma Ray's music is sci fi and fantasy powermetal. Also check out Edguy(the main band of Tobias Sammet. he did Avantasia as a side project), Rhapsody, and Stratovarius.
actually just go to this site

It is the most comprehensive rock/hardrock/metal(all types) site I have found on the net. you will have to dig a bit. they have links to more bands than you can imagine and enough reviews to keep you busy for waaay to long.

good hunting

Ahh! A man after my own heart! Finally someone that loves epic fantasy metal! I would heartily recommend Bal-Sagoth, Rhapsody, Hammerfall, Falconer, Dragonland, Dragonforce, 3 Inches of Blood, Therion, Domine, Ayreon, Dream Evil, DIO, Gamma Ray, Virgin Steele, Kamelot, Nightwish, Freedom Call, Skullview, Iced Earth, Amon Amarth, Summoning, Finntroll, Omen, and about a hundred others! :D These bands are pretty hard to find in the U.S. unless you go to FYE or some true metal music store, so you'll probably have to order them through the internet, but trust me, it will be worth it! ;) Also if you're interested, I'm currently a member of a true metal message board called True Metal Universe (http://pub69.ezboard.com/bpowermetaluniverse54137)

You are most welcome to come and join us. The members are really nice and we would absolutely love to have a fellow true metaller join us! :D And we talk about epic fantasy metal all the time! :) There are a few rules, though, that some find a bit strict, but I don't. Just don't post anything about crappy, trendy Nu Metal, Alternative, Teen Pop, or Rap, such as Britney Spears, Korn, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, or 50 cent and you should be safe from Demon Dictator Thagirion's clutches! :D

Don't forget about Luca Turilli. There is also a band called "Sonata Artica" that does pretty good stuff.

The Decemberists - they have wide vatiety of songs about very random things. Some of them do have a fantasy and medevil theme and feel to them.

Rhapsody are very cheesy but they're also very, very good. And Christopher Lee is narrator on the new album. Yeah!

For non-metal music, check out the ambient band Nest. Although not about Fantasy in the strictest sense, it definately has the same vibe.

Mp3's here http://koti.mbnet.fi/~atolonen/nest/releases.html

D'oh! How could I forget Labyrinth! :o This is the band that's referred to as the High Priests of Power Metal!
And Surt, I honestly believe that if you're looking for the best in fantasy power metal, you simply can't go wrong with Rhapsody!
