Ladies and gentlemen: (though I don't see many of the menfolk around).

Can I remind you AGAIN therefore of the purpose of this thread?

PLEASE keep the chattery to the chattery threads.

In the same vein - thank you to those of you who have enforced the rules of sffworld here. Though this is Alison's corner, we do insist basic rules are followed.

We do not tolerate namecalling here.

That way leads to thread closure and member banning. Be nice to each other or be banned!

Posts have been removed which seem to go against this basic ruling.

Thank you.

Well, I found it in my school library, way back in early 2003, while i was halfway through 'sabriel' by garth nix, but started to read it anyway, and was hooked form the first line! And I still haven't finished sabriel! I renewed 'the gift' about 3 times just because i didn't want to return it, but alas the librarians got cranky...

i bought it thinking it would be one of those fantasy books that was only moderate and wouldn't be anything special. I was wrong, I admit. By the time the Riddle came out I thought I would die from surpressed excitment :)

I also found the books after The Riddle was published (luckily for me :) ). I found a recommendation of the 1st book by Tamora Pierce, and since I was desperate for a new fantasy series I decided to give it a try. I didn't really expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but now I have to say thankyou to Tamora Pierce for that review!

Sho yeah, i found the Gift in my school library during one exteremly boring RE lesson all the way back in 2003. I actualy thought it was the book that the Cate Blancett(sp?) movie was based on, oh how wrong i was. :D I read the book in about a day (i was burning the midnight oil too:D) and as soon as i finished it, i went straight the computer to see if the rest of the series was released yet. Oh the pain when i found out i had to wait a whole year for the Riddle, but i pulled through and while waiting for the Riddle i found this little den of pellinorishness to eat away the tedious hours...

i had the same type of experience. i was at the libary (the town libary) and id just about read all the good fiction books when i found the gift. i did the whole read it in a day thing as well and i absoultly loved it so i looked on the comp to find out about the rest of the series when i had a free period at school the next day and then i had the whole same experience on finding out i had a year to wait. it was horrible and then when the riddle came out my mum brought me the wrong book for my birthday. was i not happy it took me a nother week to get it.
