I found the books during my frequent trawls around amazon and liked the sound of them because they sounded like they had a similar element to Trudi Canavan's Black Magician Trilogy. I didn't buy it at the time but a week later it came into the library brand new and I picked it up straight away. I loved it so much i bought the riddle before I'd even finished The Gift! However I then found out I have to wait for the others - sob!

I was at Barnes and Noble lookign for a good book and I found the first book in the teen section. It looked really good and I ended up reading the first two chapters with a Starbucks in hand:D

-thinks- when did i first get the gift? hmm. i think it was about a year ago, i know it was before my fave book store 'borders' opened. I think i bought it from WH Smiths, i got it along with some other books. And it was the last one i read out of the ones i bought, but definatly the best! I loved it from the word go, It took me about 6/7 hours to read it, then i made my mom go and buy me The Riddle :P - which was also a wower book- and now im waiting (very impatienly) for The Crow - im so excited!

okay, *takes deep breath and prepares self for embarrassing moment*, well one day when i was browsing the internet looking for interesting sites to waste my time on (common occupation of mine) i found sffworld and proceeded to take advantage of the fantasy area to find some extremely good books - of which the gift was not one - and then after about a year of taking and not giving i decided to actually join the site and make some recommendations (read: useless comments) of my own. and...being new to the whole forum world i somehow - im still not sure how i got there - ended up on the introductory thread in alison's little corner and after making my speech about me i then read everyone elses posts and realised that i was in the alison croggon section *blushes*. i then decided that the members raved about these books 'the gift' and 'the riddle' so much i should go and read them for myself. so i employed my trusty computer to take me to the library catalogue (i love how u can look up and reserve stuff at the library wihtout having to go there - GO INTERNET!!) where i reserved my copy of the 2 books and as soon as they came in started reading and absolutely consumed them! i became i devoted fanatic and m+c shipper...and thats the tale of how i found alison's books

I absolutely love jaffa cakes!! I gave up chocolate for lent and then I went and ate a jaffa cake without realising it! I just picked it up and ate it and didn't realise what I had done till it was too late!:o lol!

Anyway back onto topic! I found The Gift in my school library when I was bored and needed a book! I was just browsing the shelves when I saw a book with a really nice cover (the UK version of the Gift has an absolutely beautiful cover!!!:) ) so I got it out. I know you should never judge a book by it's cover but this time I judged well as once I had started it I could not put it down and ended up trying to read it by the street lights in the dark in the car on the way home! (which by the way is not an easy thing to do as people who have ever tried will well know! ) From then on I have been addicted! It's in fact about a year now since I discovered the wonders of Alison's books! Wow!:D
