Well, since this is the thread of "how we found Alison's books" I suppose I should tell my tale of how I came by them. I was shopping for some books (no surprise there:D) when I came across this book with a cool looking cover and I read the back cover and BAM I was totally hooked. I went screaming to my brother, "Look this is gonna be such a GREAT book (unfortunately, he is not into fantasy books. He is more into the old Russian authors like Leo Tolstoy, but I guess I won't begrudge him, at least he is reading right?)! Luckily, I happened to have enough money on me at the time.... Though recently I have been broke, so my mom bought The Riddle for me... Sadly I haven't bought The Crow yet.:( Anyway, that is it in a nut shell. Oh, I am trying to spread the joy of the Pellinor series around. I lent the 1st 2 books out to people and they are hooked as well. Which led me become a very happy camper. :D

In all reality more than one fan was born. I have ppl interested in the series. Oh, little side bar... I gave The Naming to one of my friends who is a guy.. and in the chapter "The Welcome Feast" when Maerad thought she was cursed b/c she was bleeding (we all know why) anyway, he said, "Oh my, and then proceeded to laugh." Anyway, the good thing is that he absolutely LOVES the series so I lent him the 2nd book... but he is such a slow reader it is driving me insane b/c i want other people to read them as well .

i also introduced my best mate to pellinor, but he didnt really like it. He said it was just like lord of the rings but with not enough blood and guts. dont worry all.... i gave him a good smack in the face (verbally of course ;) ) I think sometimes how much you enjoy a book is about timing... for me i read the series just at the right time for me. I remember reading things as a kid that were total classics, but i hated them just cos i was a bit young. And likewise, I've read things as an adult that i felt were a bit 'so-what-ish' because id already read things that were very similar.
