My dad only reads non-fiction (wait, always get confused! Non-fiction is FACT, right?)
He doesn't see the point in reading things that are imaginary. Hmm v.strange.
Put it IS crazy the stuff he knows, I could be watching a RANDOM film that he would NEVER have watched and he'd be like Barry McTrotter did that stunt or.. that plant is a nephipoopie tree that was grown in BarbarLand
and it'll be alll trueee!
Sometimes I think he is GOD. Also I have suspicions that my Dad is a Spy but i'll be quiet now. :D

I saw the Naming at the library in the new YA fiction section (my haunt!), and said to myself, "Self, That looks like a good fantasy book. It's huge too, so you'll get a lot of reading out of it! You should check it out, self." So myself checked it out. And I read it and was like O_O OMGNESS I MUST HAVE MORE. Then checked out and read the Riddle, and now I've read the Crow and I am waiting eagerly for the Singing.

So I guess it is possible to judge a book by its cover, but you can get a much, much clearer picture by opening it ;)

...my dad reads Louis L'amour xD

well my mom's a cowgirl from Wyoming xD And my dad loves the West. He would have loved to live out there - it's a great place to live.

He loves history too, and the Louis L'amour describes a time period he is especially fascinated with.

Hmm! I love everything to do with America! I'm English myself and I know you can be an anglophile.. but whats the word meaning America-lover? :D:D

I will soon read a Bill Bryson book on America, it shall be my first non-fiction book read. Also I have just bought The Angry Island by A A Gill
and soon shall read that!

Ps (Just to keep on topic); I found Alisons book in the YA section of Waterstones but I think it should be in the Adult section too. Is it embarassing for Adults to venture into the YA section? Well I guess thats why they made alternative front-covers for HP. ;)

hmm.. if I remember correctly I was actually pulling another book (sorry Alison) off the shelf in WHSmith when 'the Gift' fell and opened at my feet:D
I read the first page on the way to the checkout and I've been a fan of the series ever since.

oh, and to all of you who are anxiously awaiting your copies of 'the Crow' in the US, all I can say is that it's worth the wait.:D:D:D

They could always order it online...that what I always do, because if it's only published in America (I live in England) then Amazon's going to be the fastest way of getting the book...that is, when they can find my house...

Hello, stalker newbie here who has been following these threads forever, finally deciding to post.
No, the Crow has NOT come to us, which really, really, really sucks. I've been waiting for a long time for it to come out, and thankfully I do not have to wait any longer. It's expected release is September 11 along with the opening of the Candlewick website.
I first ran across 'The Naming' when I went online to Amazon and looked at a previous book I had read (the title escapes me.) It listed similar books that I might enjoy and, low and behold, there was 'The Naming.' I read the summary, and I raced to the library as fast as I could. :D
