I love them because everything about them is so well done =)
The characters personalities are unique and the scenes are described so thoroughly and ,of course, it's so interesting too!! LOVING Maerad+Cadvan :D
The covers are awesome also.. yupyup,,, sticking poems and songs in the books is a good idea :)

Actually, I know what you mean by 'real'.
Alison has a way of writing them that just kind of gets you right into the story and it's just kind of hard to believe that you're just reading a book with words... kinda.

Anyone have a better explantation???

- Likable characters with believable development
- Fantastic prose
-spine-tingling poems
-the landscape is so well descriped that it's easy to imagine
-deeper philosophical questions
- love the faux scholarship
-original epic fantasy

There's my two cents for the moment, folks. :D

Ooooo i can pick a fault....

When Cadvan *died* and was absent for half the Riddle, that seriously depressed me (however when the Gwalhain Pass thing happened, i was so distraught i had to go scan for his name throughout the book in case he was alive, and i was even more depressed after that and refused to read it for 6 hours untill i looked for his name again and found that they reunite at Pellinor) however i think if it didnt happen, they wouldnt appreciate each other company like they do now (cos of the dead bard thing)

that is a fault but in lituray terms it just makes it a better book :p
