I'm having a hard time finding magazines or places where I can submit either short historical fiction or fantastoricals. I have a short story based on the battle of Salamis (the original idea for The Owl and The Eagle) and since it doesn't have any magical elements in it I'm thinking historical fiction is more appropriate. I can't FIND any magazines or places to submit it. Anyone know of something? I would be most appreciative. :)

You might still want to send it around the fantasy magazines.

Magazines that publish fantasy fiction and other types of fiction will likely be interested in it. But magazines that publish only fantasy fiction will not be if it has no fantasy elements. There is no real market for short historical fiction. If you can find a history magazine that sometimes publish fiction, or a specialty magazine that covers the appropriate historical period, they may be. If you think your style is sufficiently literary in nature, you can try some literary magazines, but most of those want contemporary pieces, not historical ones. Historical fiction tends to chiefly be published in long form, as novels.
