very polite Starlily!lol. I was wondering about the whole 'alison/ms croggon' thing too- I must admit- I really embarrased myself when I found this forum and Alisons website.I sent a really formal e-mail to alison- then when I got one back  :D  saying thanks, from alison- lets put it I was pretty embarrased.
Surely no other popular + famous author actually talks to so many fans!:D
One of a Kind Alison! :D :D WOOHOO!:D :D

Yes, she is :D she responded to an email of mine not too long ago :o I was sooo happy!!! :D I did the same thing to Keneth Oppel a long time ago and he was all...yo thanks but yer creepin' me out kid  not that that's bad but it probably takes alot of time and energy to answer the MANY fan letters that an author gets :o

btw I still think Keneth Oppel is cool  even if I creep him out :D

Reminds me, I'm behind on my correspondence...

Well, I really I love being flattered... :D And this is clearly the place for it.

But seriously, I do enjoy genuinely enjoy hearing from fans. I do write these books for readers, after all...And it's, well, really nice. But every author is different, and writers can be very anti-social (it's often why they're writers). Answering can be time consuming, and perhaps there may come a time when I won't be able to answer every mail, but I hope I never get blase about getting them.

I try to answer all the emails sent to me, because when I was young and people wrote back to me, it was such a thrill (actually, I still write fan letters - I wrote one not long ago to a writer I greatly admire, John Berger, and he wrote back - and not only that, a hand written letter!)

Philip Pullman told me off for spelling his name wrong when I wrote to him, but I think he's a bit grumpy. I don't mind grumpy writers - I'm married to one and I've always got on with grumpy people - but you must realise that it isn't personal!
