(Just caught up with this). I'm impressed as well! Thanks Gemini!

As for news...

Last week I got an advance copy of the US paperback edition of The Naming (coming out in May, I think). I was actually quite taken aback - it looks a whole lot better than I expected, very lovely, actually, with this lush metallic quality in the cover (you'll have to see it to get what I mean). And it's got this built-in bookmark which is very nicely designed, promoting The Riddle, with close-ups of both covers. I felt quite excited.

And getting to last proofs with both the UK and Australian editions of The Crow, many of you will be glad to know. The covers do look gorgeous. I think I am going to be very happy when I get to see the actual books!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, negotiations are continuing with Penguin, Walker and Candlewick over The Singing. You will all kill me when I tell you there might be a bit of a wait on this one. I'm going to write it in the second half of this year, but it might not appear until 2008. (Not my fault! Not my fault! None of them believe that I can write it as quickly as I say I will, and all say I'm crazy...!) To be honest, I'm glad I don't have to rush for a 2007 deadline, just in case it proves even more difficult than I think it will be (I think this one is going to be the hardest of the lot, I really don't want it to be a disappointment). And better to take the time to get it right.

And really, although you won't believe me, two years between novels is actually quite quick.

True Alison i do believe you. . .two years is not a long time in the perspective of things. . . Just keep working . . .you know we'll support you! :D After all the end products are brilliant!:D :D :D

Congrats on recieving the advance copies and i can hardly wait for The Crow to come out in Aust! . . . .The release date is still MAy. . .right?

Anyhoo. . .now my sufficient distraction is over back to history essay!. . . .
