Who do you think resembles Maerad?

I think the first pic looks almost maerad-y, but it only shows half of her face, so I can't really tell. Although, I do like how she doesn't look haughty or too full of herself or anything; maerad should definitely NOT be like that. Close match! :) but my image of maerad is too deeply embedded for me to change it.

I imagine her the way she's pictured on the US edition covers....

Me too, actually....almost. More so the Naming than the Riddle. She looks different on the riddle.

I don't have the actual edition of the Gift....I never actually bought one, I just have a really boring cover that says "The Naming" in black in the middle, "Alison Croggon" a bit farther down, "Candlewick Press Advanced Reading Copy" along the top, and "Not for sale" along the bottom. Black letters on white background. :(

So I imagine her the way she looks on the cover of the Riddle....

Kind of off topic, but who do you think is standing behind her? I don't think it looks like Cadvan at all; I thought it might be her Pilanel cousin.

I thought it was Arkan, because the book described him having two, long black braids, as he does on the cover, and dressed in a sleeveless sort of thing, I remember, because Maerad mentions she was surprised he wasn't affected by the cold in his get-up (my words, not hers!). :o Interesting, though, your interpretation. I would never have thought of that!

Oh! I thought that those were the ends of his cloak, not braids.

Now I think you're right....It makes sense, too, because there's an ice castle in the background, right behind him.

lol, yeah. I don't like how he's right behind her though; makes him creepier! He definitely has that "sensual, cruel mouth" that alison described him having.

yeah well i think Lisa Mitchell would be great. as my old english teacher used to say:
"although i disagree with you, i support your right to state your opinion!"
or something like that.. :D english teachers, eh?
i think she'd be fine as long as she didn't have to sing... sure she's on aussie idol but i don't really like her voice, its a bit weird. though she is good at singing vanessa carlton songs. so that may pose a little problem. anyway i think she looks just about right.
