Hi Dreamer, haven't seen you around for a while...
I intend to start Classical Greek next academic year, so...:p:rolleyes:
Well, I only know rudimentary Latin, so I guess I don't really know and have a shock in store, lol..`.
I've been too busy with AS levels (including Latin and Greek :D). My Cicero set text is slowly driving me mad - amazing rhetorical skill, but difficult to translate and so arrogant (well, that's my impression).
All the grammar sounds complicated if it's listed, but once you actually learn it, it's not so bad (if, like me, you love grammar, it's really interesting). If you're doing something like the CLC, it all gets introduced gradually and some of the stuff I mentioned is past GCSE standard. Latin and Greek are both amazing subjects to learn, and I love them (my 5th year of Latin and my 3rd of Greek). Good luck with both!

Got a snow dump? Same here.
I just finished shoveling 2 feet of snow... maybe 1 in places. O Canada, our home and FREEZING land GODDAMMIT...
*ahem*
Glad you got your power back. :) I don't know anything about fahrenheit in comparison to celsius but we had -40 C with windchill yesterday. No more denying it, winter's here! :(
Wow thats the same for me today and yesterday. Went camping:D:D:D... no I'm not crazy, just almost crazy. But if you're prepared for the cold it really is not that bad, no tee-shorts and shorts, but the gear that makes you look like a humand marshmellow. the good part of super cold, snow doesn't fall since there is no vapor in the air, and therefore the sky is always clear.
hahaha, Bridie I love that site. Truly I enjoyed the books, but only as light reading. But than again, I got don't mind a romance book on ocasion. Sure the plot was pretty lame, the characteurs more than slightly stupid and vampiers were forever shamed, but people are learning that reading is a good thing and if they like twilight or Harry potter than it's possible to cram better books into their laps. LIKE PELLINOR!

We got a blizzard today! Unfortunately I still had to go perform at a choir concert and we probably still have school today since it stopped :P
About the latin thing, I don't take it, but I think it sounds cool. A ton of the songs I do in aforementioned choir are in latin. Such as.... O nata lux & lux aurumque & the second movement of Gloria.
can any of you translate?
O nata lux de lumine
Jesu redemptor saeculi
digna reclemens suppli cum laude
spreces sque sumere
Qui carne quondom contegi
Digna tus es properdisis
Nos membra confer effici
Tui beati corporis
(i probably mispelled stuff, I'm typing this from memory)
And about the twilight article that Bridie posted, it's true, yes, but I still think the books are highly engaging and really suck you in. (no pun intended)

Sure can
O light born of light,
Jesus, the redeemer of the world
Mercifully deem worthy and accept
the praises and prayers of your supplicants.
You who once designed to be clothed in flesh
for the sake of the ones lost,
grant us to be made members
of your holy body.
:DBy the light I'm talented;):D

Nice! I am truly impressed. It makes sense why our concert was named "O Light Born of Light" now.... haha...
what about...
Psallite, unigenito
Christo dei filio
Redemptori domino puerulo jacenti
In praesepio
(once again probably some spelling errors)

If you mean the Cambridge Latin Course, that is what I'm doing - on book 2 right now, so not very advanced :) I also sing lots in "Church Latin" (despite my atheism...)
Good luck with both!
Thanks, and good luck with your AS levels :)

Icelands, I know no mediaeval or Church Latin, but I'll have a go:
Sing psalms to Christ, the only-begotten son of God, the Redeemer, the Lord, the little boy lying in the stall.
No guarantees that that is correct - I'd need a knowledge of non-Classical Latin and an ecclesiastical Latin dictionary to check. Neither of which I have...
Sirkana - I loved the Cambridge Latin Course. Truthfully, I never got to the end of Book 5, because it went past GCSE level... I miss all the daft stories. I wish I knew some Church Latin - it seems like it would be really interesting to study how it changed and the mediaeval texts...
