ahhh, my head is till spinning from Lost, i found all these weird site pertaining to DHARMA... and IMO a meteor crashed into the island creating the magnetic field. Also i don't think anything will happen if the timer runs out, i think that it was some sort of experiment set up by the guy and woman on the film.
Also... where the hell does Desmond think he's running to? It's not like he can get off the Island, he just left his only source of food behind and made possible enemy's of the only people that could help him...
