I totally agree with you about Scotland!!! the accents...ummm! Anyway did you know that they're doing a new version of pride and Prejudice?! With kiera Knightley as Elizabeth!!! It's way too soon to be doing a new version I mean the Colin Firth version was only a couple of years ago!! And how can they top that one?? I mean Kiera Knightley does NOT look like an Elizabeth!! All she can do is pout! For example, " It's a pirate medalion" -pout-.

Yes! I had heard about this. Frankly, I'm rather anxious about it as there is no way that Keira "Can't Act For Peanuts" Knightley (Okay, I know I'm being harsh. She can act, but all she can do its tough action grrrl who kicks butt! Yeah!), can top the BBC version with Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth, who was really the perfect Elizabeth.
Did you know that the guy that is playing Darcy hasn't even read the book? And refuses to because the [paraphrased] "movie is not based on the book, but the screenplay of the book." Jerk.
I actually haven't read Austen's other books, but I will! I just don't have the time to at the moment. The other day, as I was clearing some stuff, I found that I owned Northanger Abbey without even realising it. So I think I'll give that a go.

and Mrs Bennett was so good too! and how do they plan to fit what the BBC did so fantastically into under two hours? They will have to either cut out an event or some characters, which is basically just ripping it apart.

and i recommend Persuasion as an Austen to read. i loved it. - i never knew it was based on herself though!

Yeah it is Tom from Spooks and he is definately not a Mr Darcy but then where could you find a more perfect person for Mr Darcy than Colin Firth (who unfortunately has now got thinning hair on the back of his head)??? He was ok in Spooks but how can he not read the book first??? Is he out of his mind??? :eek: :eek: He is stupid!!

And Persuasion is also one of my favourites too!! Has anyone read Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell?
