Hey Bridie
I hear what nan says, but man must hunt. I speak from the 1000's of years of experience here. If a guy is not willing to fight to have you now, what will he do in 10 years time? If you take the lead now, he could expect you to take the lead for the rest of the relationship too, so consider that.
I use my well used example of Braveheart, Rob Roy, Troy etc. none of those men are wusses, they are strong take the lead kind of men, and all the women I know (that are not gay that is) think Oh my, if only I could have a man like that!!! You don't get the same response from MR. Bean.
You ladies are precious, and to be respected and protected. In that a guy will prove his love, and you will love him all the more for it.
Yes I am old, but it has it's advantages, I will NEVER have to go through the dating ritual again. :D

Ahhh, after that last post I am feeling all knightly. Where has that all gone. Why are men just, well, men. Honour, galantry, deeds of valour. Maybe thats why I like fantasy so much, because t's still all alive there. Sa is a very male dominated society, the ethnic population have little if no regard for women, the Afrikaaner is only now awakening to equal rights, the English population of which there is a serious minority seem to be the only ones practising equal opportunities.
I want to ride off into battle to defend the honour of my wife, kill dragons (even though I secretly like them) to protect the villagers, and receive the ribbon from my love's hair as he champion.
Most of you are still all sleeping or at school or work, so I will mourn in silence, only to hear your witty and compassionate remarks later this afternoon or monday *** sigh ***:(

god zoro, u got me depressed!!!! where can I find men like that??????????????
jezz i hate to take the lead, and I REFUSE to do so!!!!
look,i am all passionate about man having women walking behind them and all... but i would never mind staying behind if i had a REAL Man.. one that would jump to defend me at any opportunity, and take care of me and all that follows.. see, women dont tolerate macho men, because they want to be MACHO but they just want to brag that woman have small brains, and all the insults that follow, but if they wanted to be machos, and actually act like a man, i am sure none of us would mind!:D
thats why i like fantasy too, because i can actually still hold tight to a hope that there is still men out there that are worth spending time with!:D sorry dudes for the comment, but men should be masculine, and take the lead! in everything! on the kiss, opening the car's door, makind decisions... all that!!!! :D zoro, i think u should come to america, and teach classes of manners to men!:D i alone would get you 100 students!:D

LOL you should deffinetly do lectures on stuff like that zoro.
Im all for a chivalrous knight in shining armour but im quite an indepandant female, i can take care of problems myself and such. Though it would be nice to have a guy that opened doors and pulled my chair back for me ect... maybe i should get a butler? XD I know that, if i let this boy take the reins fully, well be going round in a circle forever, hes so indesicive. Rheingold you post FAR too much if you are on 1000 posts already!

Just because you let a guy "believe" he is taking the lead in the courtship does not in any way mean you are any less of an independant woman! As Zoro & I both can tell you anything less than an equal partnership doesn't usually last. And yes I did say believe. We have as much pull in the whole process as they do. You will get the odd guy that is just too scared to take the lead but in my experience you can usually get them to step up by showing your own interest, and if not maybe they really aren't worth it. I'm not sure I would still have the same respect for my husband if I had done the hunting.;)
