View Full Version : Talk about Tales of Baldarr

Read the thread: "The collaborative story - Tales of Baldarr." This is where we discuss the story we're writing and ideas that add to it.
This thread seems to have been one of the ones that disappeared. We lost lots of good ideas here. We'll just have to make some new ones up.

It would seem that Feacus himself may have actually deleted these topics himself as he was the topic starter for all the ones that are now missing. The mystery deepens... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

We did nothing, Sir, yet it appears all the topics you actually started have been deleted! Nice try, but please do not try to blame us for this, just as it not our fault that one of your apostrophes was changed into a question mark. This was a glitch in the software, something for which I have already apologised for, and explained, but that thread is also one of those which you must have deleted, for whatever reason! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Fair enough then, I'm sure the administrator wil look into it for us! But only those who started a topic or indeed, a staff member here can actually delete a whole thread! And I repeat for all concerned: we at SFF have not done this with regard the topics in question, however we do apologise for any inconvenience caused. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Good thing I was the one who happened to start the Baldarr story thread. We wouldn't have lost it anyway, because I had a backup.
Now, how do I make one of those smug little smiley faces?

This LINK (http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/faq.html#smilies) will take you to the smilie instruction page, but in the mean time, using a : and a ) together will produce a smilie like this http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif !

Duh...sometimes my originality works against me when what is simple is enough. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/redface.gif
Now, does your comment in the last post on the "Tales of Baldarr" story thread mean you might be the next one to write more of the story on it?
I'm just being hopeful. Anyone else out there have any time to add to the story if you haven't yet? Or does anyone who already contributed want to write again?
I'll have time to contribute again to this story after Jan. 20th.

Hey Feacus, y'know that if you edit something on a post, you can also delete the last line that says you edited it already at the bottom of your post.
Then there's only one "edit" mark.
And you can also go back and make the "oops" comment go away by just hitting the "edit" again and you'll see it at the top.
I thought the rat interlude was a cute one. So, how many animals are "sentient" in this world?
Maybe Baldarr or the mage will meet the rat and we can have a ratty mascot.

Hi again evrybody. I haven't been around the forum for quite a while due to becoming addicted to Counter Strike and having piles of homework to do for my school's annual competition (eisteddfod).

So I see that Feacus has posted in the story section... FF, why add in the editorial comments there? I thought that thread was for just the story postings, and here was the place where we commented on everything? Why arbitrarily violate our custom of being able to just read the story itself without editorial comment? Is the story already really dead and it doesn't matter who says what now?
I really liked the charming little creature. Handy to have a pet, if you're a mage. Kids always identify with the little creature in a story, so it's great to have one of them in there.
I'm a little burnt on adding to the Baldarr story. The effect for me is that FF is holding the rest of us up on posting on that thread with the editorial comments. Anyone who does post seems to have to pass by FF as the "gatekeeper"- that's how it comes across to me when FF puts comments about his own (similar) novel in the story thread. I would like to have a sense of ownership about what happens in the story, but I feel that I can't because FF is doing all that ownership stuff for me.
I'm ready to abandon the attempt on Baldarr and let FF have it to himself, even though I think we have a fabulous start. I know I'm whining, but that's how I feel.
