OK.

Just thought I'd put up some pictures of my families visit to Warhammer World, the Games Workshop centre in the UK. The boys (Hobbit-lets?) knew more about this than I did, so my details could be a little sketchy....

but it seems worth a visit!

Example of a model.... (click on the pictures for bigger images)

A little blurry this one, but it gives you an idea of the size of the Minas Tirith model.....

And this one also blurry but it was the best i could do through the glass.... a very small model of a hobbit who just so happens to look like Peter Jackson! There were two made: this one, and the one given to Peter Jackson himself.

Hi Monty... it's in Lenton, part of Nottingham. You can't really miss it once you're there....

Outside the entrance (with my two unwilling volunteers! :D )

When I go to England I'm hitting that. It looks like a games workshop theme park or something.

No problem - thank you!

Not sure if it's really like a theme park, SJ - although entrance is free, you may be seeing edited highlights here! It is basically a large warehouse sized building on an industrial estate that is used for gaming. The staff I found were very helpful - one of the Hobbitlets was there for a workshop and the staff were very obliging on tips for painting, playing the games etc. As we were there early on a Sunday, the place wasn't that busy - best time to get photos! - but it did get busier later. I'm not sure you could spend a whole day there though, unless you were playing games.

Clearly the aim is to share Games Workshop game ideas and play as well as buy stuff. Meeting other likeminded souls seems to be a good reason for being there.

Seemed to go down quite well, though. Score 1 for the Hobbit! :D
