Ok, well hears a thought.

Grows a Lily on the Briar:well the lily must mean Mearad. but thanks to the meaning of Briar(a prickly plant or shrub, esp. the sweetbrier or a greenbrier. a tangled mass of prickly plants. a thorny stem or twig.) I belive that it also sybolizes elindhu. That she's unsusally special but intermixed with ordinary fokes
Grows a Briar on the wave: Sarma's probable the wave which the population has let themselves ride even though it mean destrustion. Well the people are on ege of a changing world, and their decision will make the choice of what change

Triple-tongued its voice of Fire: fire also would mean Mearad and triple voiced is the same as saying triple tongued, she has three typed of blood and so three names.

Edil-Amarandh will save: I believe this was phrased this way to be poetic the place where the story takes place will end up saved.

True and false the cunning Flame: True and false could point to right and wrong. it's difficult not to be tricked by the slight, but still importance difference of right and wrong.

Burning in the darkest Night: well a flame makes light and add the part above. Also darkness makes things even harder to do.right and wrong are even more important in hard times

False and true the secret Name: the secret name must be her Elendhu name. and the right and wrong's probable indicating that there is something incorectit could be messed because of the other two names' importance copared to its own

Quickened in the womb of Light: Quickened= its impacientes. Her other true name/self wants to be out

Where the Briar on the Foam? see the first pointOn what side of the wave is...

Doth the Lily stemless stand?see 2ed dotwhat choice does maerad make?

Who will bring the Singing home? the Singing= the tree songwho will find the treesong and share it' power

Where the Harp? And whose the Hand? the harp and hand to play it Who will be the one to play the song

I havent really ever thought about what the poems in the book really mean.
Burning in the darkest night... it might like have something to do with Maerad at the height of her powers as she faces the Nameless... maybe someone close to her dies... Cadvan? Hem? Silvia? That would really make that night dark for her. Hmm.. thats all i can think of right now:p

Cadvan and Saliman deciphered some of it in the Gift and said that the Briar, or rose, was the symbol of the House of Karn and the wave could stand for the Elidhu.

yes and nelac said that the foam was associated with the elidhu becuase they can change shape.
weres the harp? and whose the hand?
i suppose the harp would be talking about one half of the tree song and the hand would be the person who plays it...:confused:

*pondering*
Hmmmm is exactly what I want to say!

So...

Grows a Lily on the Briar ==> Grows a Maerad on the House of Karn, literally.
Grows a Briar on the Wave ==> And the House of Karn has connections to the Elidhu, somehow.
Triple-tongued its voice of Fire ==> Triple-Tongued is very clear by now. Her Elidhu true name, of course. Then her Bardic name, and her human use name, Maerad. Fire: again, Maerad. Fire Lily.
Edil-Amarandh will save ==> Does this really need deciphering here?

<==This is where it starts to make less sense.==>

True and false the cunning Flame ==> What Flame? Cunning? This line is puzzling! The idea of right and wrong sounds like a possibility, but I don't quite see where the Flame comes from. It could sprout from Fire Lily again, but somehow I find myself doubting that. Flame is not Fire Lily. I think this could be the White Flame of Bards. Sound good?
Burning in the darkest Night ==> Burning, succeeding, thriving. Darkest Night would be, well, the darkest time for all of Edil-Amarandh. Dark is thriving, but the flame burns all the brighter. Remember, it's been said several times that the Light burns all the brighter in the dark, so that could be the meaning, but then it leaves the true and false open.
False and true the secret Name ==> Again with the true and false, but this time reverse. I can't tell if that's for poetic emphasis or if it actually means something. The secret name is the spoiler up above.
Quickened in the womb of Light ==> Okay, WHAT? My wild guess is that it's saying her secret name grows, um, stronger because of Maerad's Bardic powers. But really, this is another line that makes NO SENSE!

Where the Briar on the Foam? ==> Where is the House of Karn on the Elidhu? How did they acquire Elemental blood in the first place? It doesn't seem important, but maybe this question is. Dunno.
Doth the Lily stemless stand? ==>My M+C loving side says this means, Will Maerad find the way without love to back her up? *coughCadvan'scough* My slightly more sensible side says the same thing, but not that sort of love, just love in general. But this one is pretty easy to misread, so I'm not sure at all. Returning to DaniCarr's wonderful idea, What choice will she make? Maybe that's right. It's possible.
Who will bring the Singing home? ==>The Treesong? The tuning fork, perhaps? Who will bring that home, return it to where it belongs? Maybe return the Treesong to the Elidhu. Shrug.
Where the Harp? And whose the Hand? ==> Where the Harp is pretty easy, where is the Harp? Where does it belong, or go? Who will play the Treesong, whose the Hand? Yup.

So, that leaves it all as clear as glass with giant mud spots in a few spots. Sigh.
