Hello! Well...I'm Jess, I'm 17 (DOB 7/7/1988) and live in London. I only just started reading the BoP recently, but once I got into it I literally devoured The Gift in about 1 day and 1 night. I got hooked and just could NOT stop reading. Yesterday I rushed out and took a 30minute bus ride specifically to buy the Riddle even though I have not a penny to my name at the moment. I just can't bear not being in that world and following Maerad and Cadvan's adventure.
Problem IS though, I got to a certain point in The Riddle today (won't say which due to obvious spoilers etc) and was so SHOCKED and devestated that I had to literally throw the book down on my bed and come and search the net for some comfort that everything would be okay. I have sort of found it now in form of this forum and so think I might be alright to carry on reading. Although actually once I finish, how I'll wait until May for The Crow is BEYOND me. ah!
Umm, about me myself, there's not much to say. I am a big fan of reading and am usually dipping in and out of something or other, but occasionally I find series like BoP which just completely absorb me and I can't stop reading them. I'm also a HUGE theatre fan. I study Theatre Studeis at A Level and am going to do it at Uni (well...I live in hope *ahem*) but I'm not an actress. noooo no, I'm a designer...a techie you might say. Basically, a bit of a geek. Oh well, I can't deny it! Anyway in my own humble opinion being a geek is cool. ooooh yeh. Well that's what I tell myself anyway, when I cry myself to sleep...
Hmm, I can also be a bit weird like that sometimes. It's just my odd humour. Usually, people learn to take everything I say as a joke.
I guess I'll do a list like everyone else to shorten this Monster down a bit.
I like: Strawberries, roast dinners, pasta, meat (well just food in general), reading, drawing (mainly cartoons), japanese manga and anime, stage lighting, photography, going to the cinema (my all time favourite pass time), monging, biting people, watching TV, sleeping, reading late into the night, getting confused about which day it is because I've been reading too much, xanga, CSI(more of an obsession actually...), Jonathon Creek (similarly an obsession), buying DVDs, Sirius, Cadvan, Numair, Domitan, THE DARK TOWER SERIES BY STEPHEN KING...AMAZING!!! wow this could go on forever.
I don't like: Feeling embarrassed for other people, missing my friends, losing things (which happens constantly in my world), school work, not being able to use my Student card cause it's out of date but I'm too lazy to send off for a new one, buying CDs because I'm a miser with my money and got into the habit of downloading music (whoops), the new bendy buses in London which sent away my favourite 38 bus...
Also, I tend to write a LOT whenever I get started. I apologise now for any rambles I'll no doubt go off on at a later stage.
Nice to be here and meet you all, and Alison massive congratulations on a fantastic series, and thanks for giving me something to read which brings so much joy!

Hey, and thanks to everyone who welcomed me!
Um... just wondering, how many "Books of Pellinor" are there gonna be? Cos... I'm running out of room on that shelf of my book-case, I need to know wheter to move my (one single lonely little) book of Pellinor onto a different shelf? ;-)
seriously, though, I was wondering - do you know, or hasn't it been decided? I mean, it'd be cool if it was really long, because I have this awful tendency to cry when series end. I mean, not seriously, but I'm always a bit sad that I have to say goodbye to the characters... maybe I just get too involved with the books that I read.
On a happy note, though, Ottakas have "The Riddle" on order for me! I asked at the desk, see. THe guy gave me a really odd look, when I punched my fist in the air, and screamed "YES!". That might have been because the pineapple in my M+S bag flew out and nearly trashed the desk computer, AND nearly smacked him in the face. I think I'll get my Mum to collect the book for me.
Lol!

Hi Vedetta
Good onya (as we say in the Antipodes) for ordering The Riddle. But I did laugh at your story...the bookseller must have been a little taken aback!

Yeah, you could put it that way... actually, shocked and angry might be nearer the mark, but "taken aback" makes it sound much nicer - y'know, like the bookseller retained a gentlemanly air, and handed my pineapple back to me with a little bow.
Sadly? SO not true.
Mind you, it's probably not part of the guidelines for booksellers "How to react if you have a pineapple inadvertently thrown at you by manic customer" just really wouldn't look so good on a Rule Book. You know, it might put people of rather. Hey, maybe they condense it, or make it into initials, so... wait... H.T.R.I.Y.H.A.P.I.T.A.Y.B.M.C. Except that doesn't really condense it, and you'd spend so much time trying to work out what H.T.R... oh, etcetera... stands for that they'd never get any applications in...
Thanks for the praise for ordering the Riddle; though I don't know that I can accept praise for
