Question about Crown of Swords (spoilers)

Help,

About to start Path of Daggers but can't remember where we were at, at the end of CoS. It's been about a year since I picked up WoT cos it really was getting a bit dull for all the reasons that have been well covered in these forums. But I didn't want to put them down totally (before I get told by someone, if you don't like them why keep on reading them?) because despite some boring subplots I am still very much interested in Rand, Mat and Perrin and how it all ends.

Anyway I read somewhere that Mat doesn't turn up in PoD because of events in CoS and I can't for the life of me remember what they were. I don't want to reread it though, I want to move forward not back. So any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry to break this to you, but it's pretty much only AFTER CoS that it started getting really dull. So you haven't even reached the 'dull' books yet.

That being said, the series is still probably worth reading. Just frustrating. If you really want some summaries, do a google search.. I know they're out there on the web, I looked them up once. Very detailed. And you can also probably find some good info at dragonmount.com

Thanks, Dragonmount helped me blow away some cobwebs. Though you do not fill me with confidence about it being dull from now on. It isn't the plots per se but all the travelling to get characters where they need to be which gets tedious, I'm all for realism but do we really need to meet the Landlady's of every inn in the world?

Well, I'm just warning you... Book 8 and 10 have the worst reputations (although 8 isn't nearly as bad as 10). There are still good moments, but there are long dulls parts (IMO concerning Elayne, especially) and less and less of Rand.

But still, there's hope.. Book 11 just came out, and book 12 will be the final book of the series. So either it will get better, or it will end in failure.
